I've heard plastic surgeons often apply discounts for multiple procedures. You might look into adding a tummy tuck or booty enhancement to get the most bang for your buck! Seriously, I hope the damage is easily repairable and you're back in the saddle soon! I think he took advantage of those discounts on the previous excursions.

Seriously, I hope the damage is easily repairable and you're back in the saddle soon! Does the discount still apply if they have to flip the patient over to move on to the next job site? ??? Or do they just put the patient on a lift like a car at a mechanic's shop so they can hoist or lower him to get easy access? I'll admit, I know way more about auto mechanics than I do about medicine and/or surgery.

Carl,
Your beginning to get quite good at this, perhaps you need to consider a repaint as these silver/green Interstates seem to be particularly un fortuitous for you.
I am very happy to hear that you are primarily OK and knowing that now, I was amused when Lori's first question was if you hit your head AGAIN.
Glad you are still with us my brother.

Heal up quickly, sir. You grasped the yin and the yang of the situation at once and that's gonna get you through it all.
Hoping that the first driver can be located and taken down the justice path.

Interval. Longer duration is definitely scarey. Thank you for the thoughts.

Oh, man Willow! Sorry this happened...REALLY glad you're intact enough to write about it! Heh...the writer in me thinks about the injured hand and says, "Man, typing that up was a pain!" Is it weird that I worry about my friends on bikes more than I worry about myself? Oh yeah....nerve block things...I have quite recent experience with those looooonngggg needles. I hope the "serious" damage to the hand is minimal and you can heal up quick. Anyway...I think you've seen both of these before:

The "road report" on any AM newscast for a major city always includes the little X's on the map where accidents are occurring during the morning and evening commutes. If there are less than four in the Denver area at any one time, I consider it a light, normal day. A motorcyclist died in the Denver area this morning about 6 AM...go figure. The speed limits are set too high for the volume of autos on the road; they should be adjusted hourly and posted on those electronic signs that are everywhere on highways in urban areas. Many drivers just flip on their blinkers and move over without actually looking where they are merging to; seems that's what might have happened in Willow's case. We've probably all seen where the car shifts lanes and then the blinker comes on when the right side tires are already halfway over the line. No logic seems to work out there in traffic. All one can do is keep that head on a swivel. Willow says that he saw it comin' and his learned riding reflexes probably saved him from worse.

Willow I haven't been on here in a while, I can't believe you are going through this again. First thing I would tell you is stay the Hell out of KCK it's a God awful place. My parents lived just off of State Ave on 37th street. I had the unfortunate experience of going to Wyandotte High School my junior year. I was standing by two black girls when one pulled a short steel pipe out of her purse and hit the other one across the face. She left on a stretcher and that was the final straw for me. I told my parents I want out of here and they let me transfer to Sedalia where I lived with my grandparents until I finished school. When my parents passed away in the fall of 2014 their neighborhood was crime infested. It was so bad we were only able to sell their house for $25,000.00. I swore I would never return to KCK again. I wouldn't be surprised if the driver that caused your accident had outstanding warrants that's probably why he fled the scene. Glad to hear your injuries are not to bad, I suppose you will get back up on that horse and ride it again. As for the Miata I had one of those when they first came out, no way I would take one of those over a bike. Prayers to you and Lori, hope you have a speedy recovery. Good luck on repairing the bike.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.
To answer a few questions, I was not wearing gloves. It has been my practice to wear leather gloves and an armored Joe Rocket jacket but unfortunately this summer I have developed a habit of riding mostly naked, that is in tee shirt and uncovered hands. Hindsight is twenty twenty, isn't it?
I'm not a touch typist. I can use my right hand but not the thumb on that hand. Think about how that limits an unthinking right hander. It took me about two and a quarter hours to compose and type what you may or may not have read.
Serious advice. When I want it I directly ask for it. If I don't ask please don't bother to present it to me. It's likely you're not telling me anything I don't already know anyway. I try to follow that rule myself. Let me know if you see me step across that line.
The impact seemed to be very low speed. That means that without thinking about it I was likely draining off speed. Coming to a locked up stop in traffic I consider a bad idea as it opens one up to a rear end impact.
If you have a thought along the lines of, if it were me I would've ... We could have that conversation but it needs to begin with a question as to whether I would like to hear.
I'm really pissed right now dealing with the tow lot and the doctor whom I was supposed to see today. Appears he's the governor of the state and his staff is very uncooperative. I'm sure my ire has affected my interaction with just about everyone in general. Please accept my insincere apology.

Very good advice. I'm glad you reminded me. A couple things come to mind after reading this. (Maybe more than 2) It is impressive how fast you can slow these bikes down when you need to. I'm glad you didn't get run over. Would it be wrong of me to bring 5 cans of pink Krylon to Inzane ? In a purely selfish way, I appreciate you singlehandedly handling the quotas for wrecking G&S Interstates. But, enough is enough. Don't get too pissed at your new governor.

For visibility? She was out of control when she crossed into my lane. I'm pretty sure more visibility would not have helped. Oh! You mean just to change the paint scheme? I try not to be superstitious but it's an effort that is definitely under some pressure. He's our current governor. He very narrowly (330 votes) came in second in the primary so he will not be our ongoing governor. Thank you for the thoughts. There are no green and solver Interstates, at least not in the original paint scheme. Yes, Daniel, I've seen them both. They are appropriate for the day.

Yours and Redline’s comments stuck with me in my post a while back...the one where I wasn’t wearing gloves and you said you had injured your hand. I haven’t ridden without gloves since.
Is it the same hand you injured or the the other one?
Hope you heal fully. It could have been worse.

I hope to never criticize anyone for their apparel or lack of. I'm guilty many times of breaking ATGATT. Actually I doubt I've completely ever been there. But this summer has been my best attempt at it. Mesh gloves and mesh jacket only make it possible. I even wore mesh pants for 6k. Habit is the key for me. That said, who knows if they'd have even made a difference in Willow's get off ?

There's a chunk of flesh hanging off the corner of the right mirror. The knuckles of my right hand show some scraping like they may have been slid along the pavement. I saw the bike this afternoon and it does show signs that it slid significantly. The engine guard took the brunt.

Clearly if you had them at the traditional straight on set, you'd have lost some fingers. (Could you remove that chunk of flesh ? It's grossing me out)

When I left church yesterday it was already 78 BUT kept the armored mesh on with my leather gloves. Took 160 West to Gainesville bout an hour and when I came out after my iced tea-86 now-the mesh jacket went in the right saddle bag. But I did put the gloves back on. Bugs STILL hurt at speed but not near as much. Time I got back home it was flirtin with 90 and I could not seem to drink enough water so glad I got back when I did. I'm sure you Will be back in the wind soon Carl! Keep on keepin on. RIDE SAFE.

Interestingly, the chunk was hanging from the upper outside corner. The mirror was turned significantly from where it belonged. Any leads on the person that caused all this? The city police tell us the accident report will not be available until Thursday or Friday. I don't honestly think it will be high on their investigation target list.

At least you got to meet the gov. Thank you, Raymond. You provided a good example. Unfortunately I had set it aside for awhile. We'll never know it it would have made a difference. The dig was pretty forceful. Isn't it interesting the lengths that some people will go to meet with the State Executive? He didn't ask for my advice, BTW.
