Well, after 35 years, I retire tomorrow.  Another milestone.  The last one was graduating from college, and the one before that was ETS-ing from the military, before that graduating HS, and before that getting my drivers license.  All things that I couldn't wait to get there, then all of a sudden it was a thing of the past.

Love the comment about being good at it!
I tried and sucked at it. Had to go back to work part time to keep my mind in the game.
Good luck and enjoy!

Congratulations.  cooldude

Get you some of those elastic waist pants. They come in handy in retirement.

I had a full life of commitment, work, study, interest, fun, and excitement, and retirement is the best thing that ever happened to me.  You do need to learn to enjoy the simpler things in life (and less money).... you know, like the lint in your navel.   Grin

Congrats, Joe!

Retirement isn't for everybody, but mostly for those who need a reason to get up and out each day… something 'external' to stimulate them. A thoughtful, insightful person like you, though, should have no trouble figuring out what is best for you, so go with your instincts and inclinations... Looking forward to comparing notes down the road!

Congratulations Joe.
I would suggest a 40 day ocean to ocean ride, I loved mine.

Of course, when I got home I went back to work.

Come with my brother and I to Oss's FCR.  Looking at a week ride around New England and then down to Joe's FCR after that.

By all means, keep that lint cleaned out. That's where you put the salt while eating celery in bed.  Grin  Like others have said....it's the best job I've ever had and hope to keep it for a number of years yet.  cooldude

Thank you for all the responses and well wishes.  Just so you know Baldo, I'm old enough.  It's amazing that over the past 2 years, I can feel that I'm old enough.  First thing on the agenda is to undo the harm 15 years sitting at a desk did.

Joe....you are a good friend and the only downside of my retiring 3years before you was the fact we don’t get to hang out as often. Now we have no excuses. I wish you the very best that life has to offer and remember your bedroom here in Vonore is always available. And we can ride year round down here...ops did I say that.

You will love retirement.   I thought when I retired 3 years ago today that I would be doing a lot more riding.   I do ride more than I used to but between grandkids functions in sports, hunting, and fishing....and my garden I take pride in....and mowing a lot of grass....and taking vacations....and doing the wife's Honey Do List.....I don't hardly have time to ride ....ha.  Retirement is what you make it.  Well....gotta go now.....I can hear the grass growing out in the yard.....Have fun!!!

I may do something like this, maybe more than once.

Like wise Bink.  Until I can convince the war dept. to move to TN, (I'm working on it) you will have a place up here to stay if you'd like to visit the grand kids, ( or anyone else for that matter)

Enjoy your day today!

I hope I'm still around to make it to my last working day... Seems so far away from where I am now, but I realize once I get there I'll probably look back wistfully... a little bit at least...

Congrats on retirement

May I suggest  a  cruise   from Santiago Chile  south and up to  buenos aires argentina , the most amazing trip on earth , that's what I've heard    and will be doing next year with my wife .

As for me ,  never retire as I have such an easy job and I like doing it

Be careful on the Cherohala in winter. Some sections get no sun for a month or so. Water runoff freezes in wide bands across the road.  Shocked
