What was your very first motorcycle?

Got my first bike age 14 I think in around 1964.   It was Italian made Allstate Compact sold at Sears and Robuck.   My first wheels.   Rode that suckered all over the place.   Had my first motorcycle wreck on it showing out for some friends and hit a ditch.    Didn't hurt me or the bike but sure damaged my ego.    You never know....I may get over it some day.

A minibike that the tire store at JC pennys sold had a three HP B&S on it. I was Eight. Saved all my lunch money and saved very penny I could get by picking up bottles and taking them to the store for the refund 2funny.must have worn out 15 clutches on that thing. Good thing about growing up in a small town, the one cop we had would just wave as I rode by on the streets coolsmiley

1972 Honda 360, forget the model designation but it had a front disc brake and a 6 speed transmission. Didn’t own one until after I left home, parents were not going to allow me on the road on a motorbike. I was 19 and married when I bought it.

First street bike (Not counting a Honda trail 50 I had as a Padawan) was a 1980 Yamaha XS11 Special I bought I think in 1999 just to see if this whole motorcycle thing was for me... Rode the snot outta it for about a year before I bought my first Valk...

'70 BSA Lightning (with 1050 miles on it).

It seemed huge at 17.

No MC license endorsement necessary, no MSF.  Go up and down the island and teach yourself.

Kick starting was cool.

Around 1970 when I was 15 my mother let me buy a 1967 Suzuki 200cc 2 stroke twin it looked just like the X6 Hustler but 50cc less. It would pop wheelies with ease?

Yes 6 speed 250CC twin, had 1 nasty habit, the headlight went dark at high RPM. Otherwise solid as a rock. 2 stroke with oil injection.

First two wheels with a motor was a Honda 50cc.
First bike on the road was a Yamaha 400 enduro. Maybe a 1974? Sure was a fun bike.

In 1961 my dad retired, and we moved from NY to south Florida, I was 16 and needed transportation. He took me to the local Triumph shop and let me get a 83cc MV Agusta 4 stoke. Didn't really like it but that a was a big as he would let me have at the time. About 6 months later, went back and traded for a 200cc Tiger Cub. Loved that sucker. Had it till I signed up for the US Navy.

My little Yamaha 100 looked exactly almost like this -- mine actually had the chrome tank and front fender.  Could do a mph for each cc, believe out or not!   I later wanted a dirt bike, so "converted" this one by flipping up the exhausts and adding a climbing sprocket and knobby tires.  It didn't have any fork play and I beat the hell out of it!

Suzuki X6 Hustler, mid 1960s.

That was a great bike.  Used to borrow a friends X6 Hustler in college.

Mine was an Aeromacchi M-50 Italian Harley Davidson.  Got it new for Christmas when I was 13 and rode the wheels off of it over the next 5 years.  Super reliable and always started right up.

Would love to have another in the garage.

My first dirt bike was a Bultaco 250 Matador.  I had to carry spare spark plugs as I never could get it jetted just right.  It was a hard bike to push out of the woods.

i strapped a lawn mower engine [ Clinton] to a 20" bicycle when I was 11, if that counts. Then built mini-bikes/ go-karts and sold them when a young teen.
First real motorbike was a Bultaco [several]. Then went to English [ mostly Triumph]
First Honda was the Valk, didn't like Hondas or any Japanese bikes until then. What was I thinking.

Don't know the year.  I got it during the summer of 1975, I turned 11 that summer.  I believe it's 50cc's and one G-Man power when it ran out of gas.

I rode it around the streets of Flushing, NY for a little bit.  One evening I received 5 tickets from a couple of friendly officers, you know, making the streets safer and all.  No license (I was 13), No registration, No inspection, No insurance, and Driving on the Sidewalk.  My mother had to go to court with me.  No officer, Judge postponed.  2nd day Mom took off from work, no officer again.  Judge threw out all tickets except the insurance one.  He said he had to send it to Albany and he's pretty sure I won't hear about it ever again.  He was right.  I never did ride that moped again in the city.  Dad chained it up in the garage until it wound up on a farm somwhere where old mopeds go to ride free.   Grin

This was the 1973 CB 175 I bought in 1999.  My first motorcycle was the same model, but a 1970 CB 175 bought in 1974.

That bike was not anywhere near in as good condition as this 30 year old and it was only 4 years old when I bought it.

I took it all apart and stripped it, repainted it, someone painted it with a brush several times with paint that seemed like house paint.  I fabbed side covers from surfboard foam and fiberglass.  (I lived in Maui then) that came out perfect.  That bike took me all over the island for three years until the engine grenaded by breaking a cam chain.  But what a first bike.  It got me my first girlfriend  Evil Cheesy Grin smitten

I only have one old laminated and yellowed pic of the bike, maybe if it rains all day Ill dig it out and scan it and see how it posts

Here it is...my first love

I had a 1958 Cushman Eagle I used to deliver newspapers - rode that thing pretty much every day - rain, snow, or shine for about two years.  Loved that thing and wish I still owned it.

Serk:  also had a 1979 Yamaha 1100 Midnight Special - dang that thing was fast (or least I thought it was at the time) !  LOVED that bike !

In 1978, summer before I started college at the local community college, I bought a new 1978 CB400A Hawk. 6 weeks later I had my first accident, after both it and me were fixed, I rode that thing for 20,000 miles over the next 3-4 years, before buying my roomates 76 CB750F  (SOHC).

They are a pretty neat looking ride. If I remember they had engines derived from DKW or Benelli obtained during/after WW2.

1967 Honda CL450.  I have owned it for 49 years; bought it from a fraternity brother's brother in 1969 in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Had the set of  high individual sided-guppylike-pipes from the "Super Sport" model that preceded it.
They eventually rusted out and now it has the standard scrambler pipes on the left side.
Brought it out West in 2005 in the back of our 1972 F100 Ford from Providence, Rhode Island to beautiful western Colorado. (4,045 miles round trip).
It's sits in our "bomb shelter" awaiting restoration. Smiley

My first was a Honda S65 (not sure of the year). It was a present for my 13th birthday. I doubt that mine looked as good as the one in the photo below (and it certainly did not look that good by my 14th birthday).
