I loved Smokey and The Bandit.

I've seen it so many times that once when I was in Germany, I walked past a TV in a store where it was playing and it took me several minutes to realize that it had been dubbed in German.

I'd love to have a black  78 Trans Am

I used to buy my rabbit, and bird food from Burt's feed store in Jupiter Florida. It was a really cool place. I also watched him and a film crew doing some scenes in West Palm Beach right across the street were I worked. I walked over to him to say hello and he stood and talked to me for about 10 minutes, also gave me a signed photo. All in all he was a pretty cool guy. Ned Beatty was there also, and he was a dick, no time to even give you the time of day. I was surprised as I always liked him. Maybe to much squealing like a pig. laugh

How about a 79...

I remember that movie, but I think of him now as Quint Asper...

That one is in good condition.

But, I've never really liked the front end on a 79.

The Longest Yard  was my all time favorite movie of burts. I was playing college basketball and three times me and a couple of teammates headed down to Dallas and was sold out the first two times the third time we got in just barely  rip burt.

Burt wasn’t a great actor and I didn’t watch his movies expecting to see cinematic excellence, I watched his movies for fun and some laughs, he was fun to watch on screen.

Movies like Smokey and Cannonball were a lot of laughs, I even liked Stroker Ace, Gator, Sharkey’s Machine and of course Deliverance.

Rest In Peace Mr.Reynolds, you will live on as a celluloid hero.

MarkT, I wholeheartedly agree! I've always had a thing for older women. Always admired his time spent with Dinah. I'm sure he had her singing a high note or two.

Jersey, thank you. Trying to remember "Sharkey's Machine". I think he is a lot like John Wayne. They were not great actors. They were movie stars! When they were on screen they owned it!

It seems thart you are correct it was a 77 model.

However, there is no difference between a 77 and a 78.

So, I guess that i would have either one.

He and Dinah were an item for many years and her death shattered him at the time It may have been the 1st time the word cougar was used because Dinah was 20 yrs his senior but he came after her after being on her show once

Oss

Yeah Sally was something too back then

differences

The front grills are not the same. The shaker on the later '77's and the '78+ are different from the early '77's.
the grills have a cross-hatch pattern in 78 rather than the 77 honeycomb pattern. The tail lamp covers are painted low gloss black in 78 (I believe this actually started some time during the 78 model year).

My dad had a '76 and "77 L82 corvette's and a '78 Trans AM..all new at the time..he blew the motor in the T/A going down along downhill north of K.C.  ...the replacement motors were rumored to have an extra 20 H.P....I was pretty proud being he was over 50 at the time...chick magnets all...but none would last for 5-10 minutes on a racetrack--brakes gone and overheated..I do have a photo of the T/A speedometer twisted all the way around to nearly the zero mark..it was difficult at that speed to put a camera up to the eye to get the picture.R.I.P.     2funny, no I did not misread nor am I joking. I agree with you about the Flying Nun but, I myself also found Dinah quite attractive.

Lots of beautiful women there for sure.

Some I remember and some that I don't.

Sally Fields was cute as a button (both coming and going).

She still looks good for her age.

Dinah Shore was a beautiful woman, even into her later years.

Burt sure was a lucky guy!

I liked his character in Cannonball run.  The outtakes from the movie are hilarious.
