So I got paid for that Island Countertop, was supposed to email the invoice to the customer. Wont send! Email settings are not up to date. So I make sure the password is good. No can send. Call COX my internet provider. They have me jump through all the fiery hoops. Still cant send! Then all of a sudden it starts sending. I redo the email to my customer and bam it goes, I'm done... NOT SO FAST. I go back on the computer to make sure everything is working and there it is, a blank inbox. No emails. All deleted. I call the crooks back at COX and they have no clue. All is lost, like I have just got a new computer again. I hate this tech stuff. I knew I was going to have to change the password on my phone. I didn't know I was going to have to do it in three separate places and not knowing much about these new fangled smart phones it took a long time to find them places! So a couple hours later I'm back in business all because COX did an update that messed with my system and they didn't even know exactly how to help so we had to go through fiery hoop after fiery hoop till it got fixed. for some reason I feel much better now. Did I tell you I love Octoberfest season

I'm with you on the hi tech stuff Jeff.
Some 35 or more years ago or so, I could run any phone, stereo, reel to reel, copier, fax, radio and TV with one hand. (I could even set points and timing with a dwell meter and strobe light)
I never was any kind of expert on computers, but I could make them work for me most of the time. But by the time I was finally almost competent with one operating system, the sons of bitches had to sell us the brand new system (over and over again). They weren't better, they were just different (and made people big money to keep up with the Jones's).
Today, I don't know sh!t.
Just a 20th century guy in a 21st century world.
However, on the down side, my plumbing has always been really poor.

Iz u my udder brudder? Couple months ago I bought a new roll away tool cabinet/box and found an old engine analyzer with a dwell meter. And gave my mechanic here an old timing light that still works. Are we antiques? RIDE SAFE.

My tech PITA...also today.
I just got a new Dell laptop. Real shiny, very quick. However, the sound quality sucks balls. The speakers are installed on the bottom and project down into the desk. Very poor quality, not happy about it. I don't remember anything about it in the reviews I pored over while deciding.
Anyway, in light of my sound problem, I thought I might have a solution.
ALEXA
Yes, that spy sitting on our table. I went through the pairing and the hookup and whatever else I had to do. It worked ok, and thought it was going to 'fill the gap'. Well now the GD thing won't shut off! It's constantly shuttling between my wife's and my laptop, announcing that the pairing was successful, then it disconnects. A constant loop. I tried everything as far as turning off Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc. Anything that might work.
We'll see if our girl is still on the table in the morning and not out in the yard.

Brenda got that Alexa thing a while back. Why, I don’t know. I suspect because my daughter got one. I unplugged it after a few days. It’s been weeks and she has yet to notice.

Standing in the produce department. Lady in mid 50's is close by.

I really wanted to tell her the answer but refrained from being a smart ass.
"6.25" came the response.
Sad that someone is too lazy to do the mental math.
Sad that someone is unable to do the mental math.
Sad that someone got an answer yet has no idea how the answer was arrived at.
Nothing learnt from the situation.

I am kind of mean aren't I ? I have 3 Alexa devices in my house and lots of stuff automated with it such as cameras, thermostats ect. We love them and they provide great music and entertainment, outside the fact I can get any radio station I want static free.

If I tried that I'd likely be locked out of my house baking in the desert sun, with buzzards circling overhead.

[/quote] I'm remembering back to the worn-out 72 or so Honda Civic I had... there was something worn out about the distributor... the car would get to where it ran awful. I'd put it in (a high?) gear and bump it along until it looked like the points were all the way open (or the cam that made them open was at the right place?) then loosen some screw with the dime and use the match pack to set the gap. Then I'd tighten the screw, slap the top back on the distributor and drive around for another week or so... The good old days I just had a new clutch, motor mount and control arm bushings installed by the dealer into my 2005 Mini Cooper I bought new and it runs pretty much like new today. The good new days -Mike

Ok the headache continues and you won't believe this. All my emails keep disappearing so I call COX again. It's the friggen Russians, I kid you not a hacker from Russia accessed my account, COX suspects they put maleware on my computer and that's why all the funny stuff has been happening.
I ran malware and quarantined 32 threats, then ran the virus scan...nothing found. Then changed all the passwords AGAIN.
The Russians, can you believe it

Get some blue tooth speakers they will satisfy the itch and some are really, really good. Not to mention you can use them with your phone or any other device that has bluetooth. I have one by Creative and its good, loud, alot of bass, portable and rechargeable. I take it out to the garage when working on something or usually keep it in the bedroom when want to listen to some music or just a internet talk. Some you can not only use as speakers but also a hands free setup for your phone. Speakers on any laptop are usually never good. If you keep all the music on your laptop copy it to your phone you can even put it in your car or anywhere you go if you dont have a car hookup for your phone. Whats nice is on the bike on a trip you always have good sounding music with you.

It was going to be a Xmas gift, but it was misplaced....lol..I'll give that a try. As far as music, I use Pandora on my phone. I have a bluetooth Sena on my helmet and have great tunes while I ride......

This is the email supposedly from COX. I guess people keep doing this because some people actually respond with the requested information . Not bad English for a Russian. I like the "do to".

Is she lazy, or just efficient? Perhaps she's someone with low math aptitude who knows how to play to her strengths. She's learned how make progress with the tools she has available to her to do the things she's not good at, allowing her to focus on the things she does well. Also, we all do some things the easy way when we could do the work to do it the hard way. Even a hard-working, brilliant guy like Trump has other people do things for him that he is obviously capable of doing himself! As old as he is, I'll bet he could teach me how to use a dwell meter.
