I remember our conversation a while ago, about PBA. We worked on the same planes, probably 10-12 yrs apart. Now two of them have come back to the Cape, permanently homed at the old Cape Cod Airport, where PBA began back in the 40's. It's a great grass strip only about 5 miles from my place. Those old Pratts sound great going over my house. |

Every time baldo makes a prediction I’m reminded of the polls and the media coverage of the election. I just finished watching again several YouTube videos of election night coverage and they are hilarious. In another thread earlier in the week baldo proclaimed, “he’s going down”. Somehow I doubt it, but even a blind hog finds an acorn every once in a while.
Thanks to the op for the YouTube link, it was funny and also brought up the election night videos too.

We were down in Miami doing the mini-evac and ditching and things weren't going well - first time around one of the F/As opened the wrong door, next time, one of the slides cocked in the tracks and wouldn't deploy, next time another slide had a different problem, then when we went to do the ditching, the slide got hung up on the platform we built to simulate water height. All total, we blew and changed 25 slides before all was said and done. After all the big wigs were gone, we did a mock engine change, i.e. dropped one down into the cradle and then put it back up to verify all the tooling fit and the procedures worked. Long story short, the mini-evac took so long, we all ended up working back to back double shifts and towards the end of the second day while we were working, a DC-3 took off on 9 right, right in front of our hangar. All work stopped - it was as if on signal, everybody stopped what they were doing and stood there to watch watch it take off. It wasn't like this was the first airplane to take off that day - this was one of the primary runways at Miami International - there had been scores of big jets all day, but this was special. Just struck me as funny since you'd think that after what had transpired over the last 48 hours, we would have all had our bellies full of airplanes, but like I said, this was special. -RP |
