Sitting here in Lake George, NY, at the FABULOUS Tiki Resort....Waiting out the rain and looking to VENT as I have some time on my hands....

So we are on our annual ride... Me n Dad have taken a long ride the week after Labor Day every year since 1990..... so this is the 28th in a row...

Left Saturday at 10 AM from Detroit to go meet Dad south of Toledo.

As I’m going down US 75 at well over the posted, I hit. A bump and My phone in its new holder POPS OUT OF THE PROTECTIVE CASE!!!!!  So I see it pop out (the case still Scully in the holder on the handlebars) and just as I reach for it... dangling from the cord....  My fingers touch it and it slips away..........  FUDGE

So I check traffic, slam on the binders and pull over... park th bike and start walking back....  after a 1/4 mile no luck.

So I get back to the bike and figure, OK I have insurance , I’ll just stop down the road and get a new one.... That’s why I pay it

So I get to the meeting point and no Dad....  I wait for 30 min. And still no Dad...  well of course he was at the wrong spot and tried to call me.....Duh...

So luckily I hav my IPad and am able to txt a friend to call my Dad... This is when I find out where he is.... Guess what... He we to what he thought was the meeting place, didn’t see me so he went back to a place we usually meet up.....  A Wendys .....RIGHT NEXT TO AN ATT Store!   So as I pull up he’s sitting right in frantic of the ATT store.

Go in to try to get a new Phone... Am told that I am at a retail only store and I will have to go to a company store to get phone... of course the only one nearby is closed.

SO fast forward to today... Now in Lake George, NY.... get up, have breakfast, I tried to calll but got no answer ( no surprise) and online it said hours were 9-9....  So its only 8 miles away, so I figure just bop down there..... not raining yet but as soo as I get on the road it starts...

Finally get there a bit damp, but ok

Go in, get name on list, and wait 20 min. Name gets called and I explain situation... he says , No you were told incorrectly that I could get a replacement... Must file an online claim and they will overnight it..... and of course I couldn’t remember my pass word as it was on phone and my IPad was back at motel.......

So here I am , just filed the claim and supposed to get it tomorrow morning delivered to Hotel...

We were going to take the day off anyway because of the rain, so not a total loss...

Just poured my first glass of Maker’s with a beer chaser and heading to the pool.

Hop the damn thing gets here on time...

How MUCH simpler easier would it be if ANY a t & t store could handle sumpin SIMPLE like phone replacement Under I might add-insurance or warranty? BUT bein as you lived it directly I are sorta preachin to the choir-ain't I?  Roll Eyes Any bets on what ys purchased New is replaced by a refurbished unit of-ahem-equal value?  Lips Sealed Well mayhaps all da bad stuff done and you and yer Dad will have a good ride now!  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

And now you know why I have NEVER carried my cell phone in a holder/holster....either on the bike or on my person. It's always in a shirt or some other pocket that zips or buttons shut. Hope you can get on the road soon....with a new one.  cooldude

Sorry for your conundrum. Losing the means to stay in touch is never fun.

Agreed John, left zipper pocket of my mesh jacket unless I am speaking on it or stopped looking at the myradar app to dodge a storm.

No desire for bluetooth headphones either although I understand they are pretty cool to use.

People can wait to speak with me until I stop for gas and glance at the messages and call log  since I dont smoke or drink coffee I have plenty of time while friends indulge their vices and cravings.   2funny

Sadly, most phone insurance is underwritten by 2nd party companies. When a friend's new Galaxy 8 via US Cellular wasn't working fo' diddly, it was the same, "we gotta overnight mail you a new one".

Just went through a similar experience myself.   Getting the phone was no issue.   Losing all my contacts sucked.   Still trying to track down friends and business acquaintances.

All that was supposed to be in the damn cloud.......   Must have been a storm cloud cause it is no where to be found!
