I Think it's garbage  ,  Woodward was on NPR today  discussing points he wrote in his book  ,  they seemed to be cherry picked  , taken out of context  .
Garbage , written for money and attention  .

All news outlets are the same , garbage , it seems

Anyone here gonna read it ?
Not me , waste of time

I haven't read Mein Kampf either, but I'm fairly confident declaring it's garbage as well.

Woodward writes and sells books.   He knows hot topics.  He knows a bias'd media will help him sell more in a divided nation.   He's just fanning the flames to make a buck.  No interest here.

Anyone notice who he normally targets in his "books"?

I't purely to sell books and nothing more , and maybe to fuel flames

Not difficult  to find something like this .
Just read  down a few lines   after you click on the link

https://www.axios.com/rob-porter-bob-woodward-book-fear-donald-trump-9f4f42a2-cc6d-475c-810f-e84fee36d79a.html

Here's a bit
What they're saying: Porter alleges Woodward's book is "selective and often misleading" about President Trump and the administration, while Woodward tells Axios, “I stand by my reporting.”

I guess the democrat's policy on votes actually works.

I am amazed that some will read a book on the president that is suspect, some will support a Russia investigation but, we hear so little about the true collusion to influence our elections that it just amazes me. It also amazes me that those who seem to take pride in being informed dont educate themselves on the real issues and stand up for them. It also amazes me how public servants can go into office poor and come out rich, like to the tune of millions rich. I guess overtime has its benefits. Except for one of course that is Trump, so I guess money is not a strong influence to go into public life.

That there are many people in this country that want to see President Trump fail, at any price, even the destruction of our country, is no surprise to me.

It saddens me. But it does not surprise me.

That there are plenty of people anxious to read what that author wrote is no surprise.  The author targeted well his audience and will make plenty on his work.  Does it make it factual?  Not necessarily.

Being part of a crowd does not make one either smarter or more stupid than was otherwise assumed.  It only makes one part of a crowd.

I'm beginning to believe that is unfortunately not true.  What most people seem to be seeking is only a truth that will support what they have already decided to believe.

Carl you get a GOLD star. That is exactly what we have here.

There was plenty of truth going around against the Obama administration and the left didn't believe a word of it. For example Bengazi. Fact: Four Americans died in that 13 hour firefight. Fact: Ambassador Stevens asked for more security multiple times and Clinton's state department denied the request every time. FACT: Obama is now calling this a GOP made conspiracy. The truth is. It happened and Obama tried to covered it up to save face. So who do you believe, Obama or the military operators that were there? I know who I believe....,

Careful what we publicly articulate.  It could come back to bite us.

One of our members uses a quote that may be applicable here.  Andy Rooney - "People will generally accept facts as truth only if the facts agree with what they already believe".

I think if you stop for a minute and consider our circumstances that the majority would fall into the group Willow describes. I consider myself one who just wants the truth. The real problem I face is being able to discern the truth if and when I hear it. For every fact you hear or read about your hear an equally convincing argument that the fact is false or in some way not credible. For this reason I don’t take a source of news, supposedly facts, and run with it as “truth”. With all the information available out there the challenge is to not fall into the trap that Willow speaks of.

I don’t think that Woodward’s book is fact, truth or fiction. It’s one mans opinion based I think on conversations with people who may or may not know what they are talking about, may or may not have an axe to grind with administration, and the author feels no compulsion to divulge his sources or confirm the info to be factual. On the other hand, some people will see it’s a Woodward book and for them it’s fact, truth and any other positive connotation you can imagine.

It's important to understand why things work. If you don't understand, then you can't think for yourself, and are prone to repeat the mistakes of your teachers, who were repeating what they learned from other people who were repeating what they heard, maybe not correctly, and without thinking, and endlessly on.

To take things as facts without reading them is equally wrong.  The thread was about the book.  And Willow was making a point about how people who dislike Trump will automatically say it's truth, while his supporters will say it's false.
Before you ask, I don't have an opinion either way.  I think the President is doing a good job and I don't care about anything in his past.  The country is running along just fine, the economy is booming,  and no citizens are losing constitutional rights.  The sky is not falling.

A sincere question, as I'm quite unfamiliar with Mr. Woodward (until the hoopla around this book), haven't read his writing, and am in no position to judge its truthfulness:
Is his reputation merely for regularly using unnamed sources, or has he been proven to fabricate sources?

He’s half the team that reported on Watergate and played a large part in Nixon’s fall.

Maybe I misunderstood what Willow said. My response to Serk and his response to that seemed to be moving past the book, but general statements of how people want and view the truth. Using unnamed sources is a far cry from "making crap up". To discern the truth, I've found it useful to view a persons past history of honesty. I don't know all of Woodward's work, but I've seen no dishonesty. If you know of some I'd like to see it. I will not state what I think of our president's past history in the honesty dept.
