So as I posted I and on our annual ride with Dad .... have gon every year since 1990 with out missing a year.....

So this year we decided to head to the New England area as it has been 11 years since we went this way.

Left Saturday from the Detroit area and met Dad in the Toledo area... see last post for all the issues getting out...

So hit it hard because of the rain and 2 days later ended up in lake George NY.... because of the weather,  ended up having a lazy day on Monday in Lake George due to trying to get new phone... stayed at the Tiki resort in Lake George.. cool old place. Built in the 70s and looks like a total tiki bar....

So ordered new phone and it was delivered to the hotel Tuesday Morning. But because we didnt check out in time had to stay another night... so we had a 200 mile ride in the area then back to Lake George...

Headed out today... went south on 9 to 197 E to 22N then over to 30N to 140E to 103E to 131E to 5n NY. Went to Windsor and headed east on Bridge road  ( covered bridge) to 12A n... followed it all the way up to 10N to 112E, the start of the Kancamagus Hwy....

We had the road the whole way east to ourselves.... let just say we ran quite quickly all the way to Lincoln NH

Tomorrow we are going to take it the rest of the way  to Conway NH and the start heading south west thru NH to Mass to Penn.. to head west Home to Detroit

Plan on going through upstate Penn thru the Allegany Mt area back to Ohio and home

Anything I need to not miss???

I'd post over on the New England board also. Them guys seem to get out and know the area pretty good. I just wanted to say I really enjoy hearing about your rides with your Dad.  cooldude It's pretty cool. If my Dad was still alive and I could have got him on a bike, I think he would have thoroughly enjoyed what you guys are doing. Keep it up. (Try to hang on to your phone though)

Thanks MH...

Yea everybody is kinda impressed that I spend a week + a year with Dad on the bikes.....

But then I explain that most of that time, usually 8 hours a day is spent with us on the bikes...

We do have CB’s, but mine seems to not work most of the time...LOL

So out of all that time less than 1/6th is time I actually have to spend with him.... ANd he passes out pretty early.   Plus I drink a lot......

Enjoyed taking 6 thru PA west once past Scranton   Not much traffic at all and no trucks to speak of.

Several years back the powwow was (I think) in Bradford PA which was a neat town, good food at a historic steakhouse

Maybe either Chrome or 3W can fill in the blanks

You will be able to pass the grand canyon of PA and some nice roads that route

If you pass this way taking the road from Port Jervis west is very scenic but if there is flooding from the hurricane I would pass on it
The Delaware River can be very angry when flooding as will any secondary road

If your hitting Conway NH, you most likely will be going thru the Kancamagus highway to get there.  If not, use it to get out.  Worth the trip.

If you have the time, a trip to Mt Washington would be cool.

Obviously, you want to avoid eastern and most of central Mass.  A ride down the west side of I-93 on back roads down to Keene NH is nice.  Then grab rte 32 south down to the Quabbin Reservoir area, but you might want to stay on the west side of the Quabbin down rte 202 south.

If you stay on the east side of the Quabbin, take 32A instead of 32, much nicer.

Rte 9 west from there is not bad except going thru Amherst and Northampton MA, but once thru them, the Berkshires, in Western MA (and CT) are excellent.

Rte 2 west is highway like until you get west of Greenfield , MA. then it's nice.

If you can hit rte 112 or 116 in western mass, you'll like them.  Also, either rte's 7 or 8 are good.  If you hop over to NY, rte 22 is great.

Lots of options.

The thing about NE is, some of the secondary roads are in need of repair and a lot of that is up to individual towns.  Some are better than others at that work.

Looks like you got a excellent weather weekend, enjoy it.

Well, DUH, I should have read your WHOLE post!

The Kancamagus starts in Lincoln and goes east to Conway.

Take it both ways.  cooldude Smiley

The weather forecast for MT Washington today actually looks pretty good.  Might change my plans for today!!

Go north thru Franconia notch, east thru Crawford notch and back to Lincoln on the Kanc. Depending on time consider Bear Notch, Cathedral Ledge (part of Echo Lake state park), Hurricane Mountain Road (very tight, not for faint of heart), Evans notch/RT113 and Rt2 back to Gorham.
