... oversized guns, like on USS New Jersey. How could, or where would one go to experience a 12" to 16" gun being fired.
Since that is exceedingly unlikely, where could one go to see the biggest possible gun being fired. Yeah, that'll do it.

There are movie clips on you tube of American Battle wagons-ships-firing full broadsides. I was above-on the flight deck-and behind the Marine 5" 38 gun tub when the fired. Maybe 8 feet away and I KNOW I would NOT wanna be near any thing with a larger bore-8" 10" 12" 16" cuz the concussion from that 5" 38 was impressive enough. Where you could observe that today I have zero idea BUT if ya come up with something let us know please! RIDE SAFE.

I think you'd have to enlist in the Navy for that. The only times we actually shot our weapons was when we were at sea.

Come to Franktown. I'll take you to my range and you can fire the biggest HANDGUN currently available (not counting wildcats). Smith & Wesson .500 Magnum 3,000ft/lbs energy (depending on load) - about the same as a 30-06; 2.7 times that of a .44 magnum.

Yeah, that'll equal a 16" gun that'll throw a crushed VW bug over the horizon (or Kenosha to Chicago)

there are several private owners of these guns but getting the chance to fire one is little to none.

Even if you owned a 16" gun, try buying this ammo down at the old gun store. How much is one of those? About 25 thousand dollars (just guessing).

Stood about 10' away from a guy shooting a .44 Mag on the firing line, and I thought that concussion was more than enough. Flinched every time.

You could see some large civil war cannons firing. I know that there are competitions for the old field cannons.

44 mag? Really? I regularly shoot my revolver and lever action. Nothing to go out and shoot 2-300 rounds of 44 mag. I have about 6000 rounds of "hot" 44 mags loaded and enough supplies to load at least 5000 more. Yeah I like my 44 mags
