While on my bike going to TN last week and then again home I saw people on their phones while driving down the highway. When is this crap going to stop.........

That story really rings true for me. Everytime I leave the house headed East I quickly pass the markers of two riders who were killed several years apart at a local intersection. Both times it was caused by cagers pulling into the highway or crossing the highway right in front of them.
Both times, coincidently I arrived there right afterwards on the Valk. The first rider I didn't see since I was turned back by the police but the next day it looked like a deer had been hit by a semi there. Literally a 20' long bloodstain on the road. It was a young female rider whose life was ended that day.
A year or two later as I approached the same intersection I see flashing lights and the intersection is closed again, this time a male rider is being covered with a sheet. I rode into town the back way so I could get onto that highway (highway 59) and continue my travels. I rode by as his friend was riding away. The look of desolation on his friends face as he rode away is something I will never forget.
I've parked down there and looked at that intersection 20 times since then. No signs block the views, the stop signs on the rural crossroad are easy to see, I see no reason for the accidents other than both are well used roads. Since then several people were killed there in an automobile accident and now there are even more markers. The auto deaths were all caused in one accident by a drunk driver though.

I have told this story before.
A few years ago on the forth of July my wife Twila's ex husband Eddie's best friend Jim and his wife Cathy were out for a ride when they were hit head on by a teen girl texted on her phone. Jim died at the scene his wife made it to the hospital just to be pronounced dead on the table. Instantly making their two kids orphans. I met Jim and Cathy at Twila's sons graduation. Nice people. A month later they were dead. All because some stupid teen couldn't wait to text until she stopped. Sad really.....

Now with GPS, blueberry, blackberry, and strawberry, it's kind of a thing of the past, but also watch out for the driver with a whole fold up map unfolded, trying to discover where he is. I was that guy a couple times, 30 years ago. I still don't have any berries, but I preplot my trips on 3 X 5 cards now. And don't forget Darryl and his brother Darryl, the deer brothers.

See it all the time on my short 5.2 mile commute. Sadly AZ is one of only 2 states that does not have a comprehensive statewide ban on texting and now the snowbirds are back... I believe, that if I was a policeman assigned to traffic...I could make my quota on turn signal violations alone!

It COULD and SHOULD end 2moro. Yuppers-repeatin myself. Past 5 M P H the infernal electronic contraption shuts off cept fer 911. BUT the little darlins got "rights" or so I've heard. BUT "they" WILL keep on murdering us out there cuz we as RIDERS appear too NOT matter a whit. Made mention of this before. On a P G R mission a female blew thru a light and come near T-boning the R C and our L E O escort. The L E O had her Red Emergency lights on and was blipping the siren. AND as an aside-ya dasn't wanna be run off the left side of I-44 here in Missouri cuz they have the cable center barriers now. Also been around 18 wheelers tryin to text and aim. RIDE SAFE.
