He was. Cool  Been a year now since he departed. Miss his songwriting. "Damn the Torpedoes" on the turntable in '79-'80 regularly.

Sirius radio channel 31 the Tom Petty channel just had a 3 hour tribute to Tom. Was very informative and they play some great songs. Petty will live on through his music and he is and will be missed.

That Band (TP & The Heartbreakers), could really put on a concert cooldude cooldude

I saw them 7 times at the Marcus Amphitheater, at Milwaukee's Summerfest.  Had a few 'front and center' seats...  They never left you wanting for more... RIP Tom.

An American Treasure, is on my Christmas list, to go with all the other TP CD's and Albums  Wink

Luckily there are talents like Kanye West and Justin Bieber to fill his shoes.  uglystupid2  Roll Eyes

Seriously, though, Petty was iconic.  I have Full Moon Fever on vinyl that I likely only played once, when recording it onto a cassette tape to play on my Walkman and in my car.  I don't think I even played the cassette much, as the album was all over the radio.  Same thing with U2's The Joshua Tree; bought the vinyl album when it came out, but hardly played it because I got my fill of it on the radio.
