Nice video.  I had not thought about the notion of step potential.  Seems plausible.  Reminded me of this video

The difference is the guy in this video has a special suit.

Interesting, and a lot of things I did not know.  cooldude

The only thing missing was a refresher on how not to face punch anyone running head-on in my lane from texting.

speaking of safety.......I worked construction for 44 yrs and in one of our weekly safety meetings we had a Safety Engineer come and give us a speech.    He presented a poem about safety that stuck in my mind and I saved it for future chances to post it.

WORDS TO LIVE BY
I could have saved a life today
but chose to look the other way.

It wasn’t that I didn’t care.
I had the time, and I was there
but I didn’t want to seem a fool
and argue over safety rules.

I knew he’d done the job before.
if I called it wrong, he might get sore.
The chances didn’t seem that bad.
(I’ve done the same. He knew I had.)

So I shook my head and walked on by.
He knew the risks as well as I.
He took the chance, I closed my eye
and with that act I let him die.

I could have saved a life that day
but chose to look the other way.

Now every time I see his wife
I know I should have saved his life.
I see his kids and feel so sad.
They cry at night. They’ve lost their Dad.

That guilt is something I must bear
but isn’t something you need share.
If you see a risk that others take,
that puts their health or life at stake ..

.. The question asked, or things you say
could help them live another day.
If YOU see a risk and walk away,
then hope YOU never have to say

I could have saved a life today
but chose to look the other way.

Safety;

Lets talk safety, the basics things we do every day.

Do you use the handrail when going up and down the stairs?

When you climb a ladder, do you maintain three point contact?

When you ride, are you aggressive, passive, or considerate.

The first two are things you and I do on a daily basis.  Safety starts with the small things.  Then, you think, when I am using the weed eater, I might need safety glasses, or a face shield.

Next, safety become a thought process.  Do you correct a friend that does snot use the hand rail on the stairs?

Lost a friend in the 70's, he was working construction putting in sewer lines.  He went to release a load of pipe the crane had dropped into the trench and no one noticed the crane boom was touching a power line.

A new guy was hired to drive my semi dump. I went into a track back hoe as I was also an operator. The new guy did not follow the signals by the ground guy. Talk was he was on cocaine.  I went up to him at break time and told him in front of everyone , "if anyone gets hurt because of your drug use , I will bury you alive". The next day he called in and quit.  Yes , I am an a-hole.

I've been an industrial mechanic/electrician for 40 years. But I had never thought of "step potential" and can certainly see it's possible.

Good video.

If a car is on fire, getting out is necessary. If not, stay in the vehicle and don't touch anything. Those were primary lines on his vehicle. Nothing to screw with, none of it is.

What is a track back hoe? I have operated heavy equipment for years and have never heard of this. I have heard of a track hoe and excavator. Never a track back hoe.
