One thing we do not need more of is illegals on welfare, free medical, free schooling, etc while the middle class pays for it and the Democrats sit around and figure out how to get a legal vote out of them.

Since it's border protection it might not be.
It's not like there is a lot of settled law on this arcane subject.
An exception was found for enforcement of federal law at the discretion of the President of the United States, such as with the 101st Airborne Division by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to integrate Little Rock Central High School in 1957.
Well, immigration is all Federal law, and this would be presidential discretion to use troops to stop illegal immigrants and not against US citizens.
I think a finding out of the AG's office would do it, though there are likely some Federal judges who would happily find it violates Posse Comitatus.
So, get a finding from the AG, do it now, then worry about the issue later if it comes up.
I do not think the US military would be shooting anyone (unless they were shooting or offering deadly threats first). This is a manpower issue, not a war fighting issue.
I know they like to take everyone into custody so they can ID them, so they can weed out multiple offenders, or wants and warrants, or later applications for legal citizenship, but I wish they would all be rounded up and immediately dumped back over the border without any of that. Absolutely no taking asylum applications or anything else from any who cross illegally. No court dates.
NO due process or speeded up due process of any kind should be available to an illegal crosser. If it does, that's just an incentive to keep doing it.
Maybe some MREs and water, and that's it.
The images of thousands of illegals (men, women, children) in camps and lockups is not a good one. And the open-border socialists know it.

If you take a family into your home suport them and be legally responsible for them, as in if they commit a crime you will be the one to do the time, I am fine with them coming. But most that want them here will not be responsible for them. Why not? Be their host family until they earn citizenship.
