Yeah, the prostate. They wanted to put me in an older machine that I barely fit in and I said no dice....that was a couple weeks ago. I opted for anesthesia so today was the day, needed to get it done to find out if there's any cancer. During the prep I had some lively conversations with the various nurses, one got all embarrassed when she walked in the cubicle and simply said "it's time to take all your clothes off." I just smiled, said "OK, but we just met." She turned red like a thermometer, one of the male nurses just laughed and told me she says that to all the male patients....which didn't help her situation any. I obliged. An older gal came in and asked about any implants such as new joints, etc., then asked if I had dentures which I do. Told me they also had to come out, then added "you don't want them flying out do you?" So I told her the old story about my Aunt Sophie's experience with her choppers. Dear Aunt Sophie was a talker, my uncle used to say her tongue was loose on both ends with ball bearings in the middle. He would then ask her to either stop talking or shut off the ceiling fan....and the two would go back and forth with the zingers for the next few minutes. My uncle loved to tell a story about what happened to her one day while she was doing the washing. Seems she was talking on the phone in her usual machine gun fashion when her teeth fell out and into the washing machine. He said they chewed up a pair of her best bloomers before she could stop the machine and retrieve them.
The nurse looked at me......obviously she didn't get it, the guys and other nurses were all cracking up at the story. I didn't explain. One little gal that was all of 5' and a couple inches was standing on the left side of the gurney and trying to hook up something on the right side. I asked her if she'd be more comfortable moving to the other side, then added "I know I will be." She got all flustered and did as suggested. Sweet little gal, from that moment on she treated me like a long lost grandfather.
They expected me to be in recovery for at least an hour. I woke up as they were moving me out of the machine, spent about 20 minutes in recovery before getting dressed. No reults known as yet....except for a nasty headache. Guess I'll know soon enough.

John, what on earth was your head doing near where they were examining your prostate? ??? I've seen that cartoon drawing. Don't believe it's actually possible. But, having read a lot of John's posts, I don't believe his head is in that situation..... Rams

I've been told I need my head examined, however the headache was a result of no food or drink prior to the procedure....including my morning coffee which was probably the main reason for the headache. The procedure didn't take place until midafternoon. Since I'm not as limber as years past, my head was in its proper place....coincidentally another issue that's been questioned before. yah, my headache would be there as well if I did not eat nor drink my daily diet coke before noon or so as well. I use to drink 2 diet cokes per day but thinning that down not sure I can quit though....

What's more confusing is Willow didn't correct my spelling...tsk, tsk, tsk! As for the story, my Aunt Sophie and my Uncle Herman are real, as are his remarks which do really apply to my aunt. Per my uncle...."that woman can talk the ears off a field of corn." Or...."did ya notice, we don't have mice in the house? They can't stand the heat." Most are quick off the cuff comments made with a straight face, used to love going to see them 'cuz my aunt always had a full cookie drawer. Got my first motor from Uncle Herman, a 1927 Model T truck engine and transmission. He used to use it to pull hay into the haymow through the big haymow door. He like loose hay better than baled, you don't have to stack loose hay, less work. When he finally bought a new tractor, his old one took over the Model T's duties. Before tractor mounted corn pickers were developed, my uncle got two "pull behind" pickers and mounted one on each side of his tractor, done in such a way as to be able to detach and back out of it. He never patented it, already had more money than the county he lived in, very humble man. Built my first motorized two-wheeled contraption for me during one winter. He mounted an old washing machine one cylinder gas motor to my big old fat tire bike. I was in about 7th grade and learned to ride on gravel roads, my folks never let me take it into the city. Imagine a bicycle flying down a gravel road at 50mph, reminded me of an old Whizzer my neighbor had. Dad always told me that when I got on that bike, mom would take her Bible and go into the bedroom alone. Looking back over all these years, I guess it surely helped.

I'm glad you got in and out of there John with little issues. I hope you got that cup of coffee and rehydrated yourself. Prayers for good results. Look forward to seeing you in a couple weeks at Jerry & Sherri's in Zepherhills.

Yep, dr. told me a few months back the 4K cancer blood test came back with a 75% probability of cancer present. My answer....that means there's also a 25% probability of there not being any present. Praying the 25% wins out, this MRI will decide that.
So far, it looks like I'll be able to make the gathering on 11/3. Our helper lady said she would switch days with another woman where she works on weekends and come spend the day with Rita so I can have the entire day to myself. Normally she only comes for 3-4 hrs. on Tuesday and Thursday, $12/hr. for her time but well worth it. She does a little cooking & cleaning, washing if needed. Plus keeps Rita company and watches over her while I'm gone.
