last night was first game and Boston won pretty easily.  Pretty sure the Dodgers do not have a chance.  I was of course rooting for the Brewers in game 7 vs. the Dodgers since the BREW CREW has not been in  the world series since 1983 when I was a kid and back then I actually followed and cared about baseball growing up.

Same here. Last Brewers game I went to was Robin Yount's last season. Don't miss it, but I'm happy for the fans when their teams win because it makes them happy. Rather buy a lottery ticket than a ball game ticket  angel

anything sports or event related IMO is becoming way too darn pricey.  20-30 bucks is reasonable for a sporting event or show, but over 40 bucks for one ticket for anything IMO is out of my league....

I wanted to go see Def Leppard and other 80's rock bands in a local concert but the cheapest ticket was 80 bucks, not worth it to me..

I understand you cannot do much of anything nowadays for 20 bucks, even going fishing on a local lake is 20 bucks in gas back and forth (plus outboard fuel), but one has to justify the cost factor vs. reward.

Watched part of that game yesterday, actually flipped back and forth.

What was the temp there?
Looked like most of the players didn't want to be there and just wanted it to be over...

Next games are in CA, right?

I get a kick out of Craig Kimbrels stance before he delivers. Looks like he got trained by Mr. Miaggi for "wax on, wax off"
Cannot criticize his success though.

I really do not care who wins but its entertaining.

Temp was around 45*, but with the humidity and wind it was probably "raw" as is the term.
Three games scheduled in L.A. with the temps there being in the 80's (looking for the Sox to only need two).
Warm climate boys don't like the cold, but that's not why the Dodgers lost.  Boston is deeper off the bench and their club is a hitting machine with two outs in an inning.

He's said that his pitching stance came from when he was injured in the past (maybe arm or shoulder) and he "gooney birded" his arm so it didn't hurt as much.  He just kept as it got comfortable. The really odd thing is that he faces third base when he comes set and doesn't look at the plate until he turns to deliver the ball.  That has to mess with a batter's timing and thinking when a 98 MPH fastball is bearing down on him or an 83 MPH breaking ball is falling off of the table.
I loved Luis Tiant of years past; his portly body and head were moving in four different directions during his delivery.  El Tiante!  Pitching is keeping the hitter off balance.  Ted Williams was never off balance.

I went to the game last night. It was great seeing the guys from the '04 Series.....

It was chilly, but comfortable, if that makes any sense. The last two innings got a bit cooler...

The Sox are really playing well, I hope it goes to a 6th game, I'll be at that one too.

No!  Put those bastards away in 4 (no more than 5) so that Kershaw is not a factor when the pressure amps up for a game 6 or 7.  Also, the less they see of our bullpen the better.  Keep'em off balance.

Where were you sitting last night?  Kimbrel is back on track after adjusting his stance on the mound (he was tipping his pitch by the way he held his glove up near his chin) and giving up those hits and walks against the Yangees (spit x2) and the Astros.
The Fens looked like it was rockin' last night; oh to be there in the grandstand.  Dogs and Gulden mustard.

Saw Roger Clemens pitch his 20 strikeout game back in 1986 on a trip to the homeland from Colorado.  My wife (virgin trip to Prahvahdence), knew nothing about baseball and wondered "Why is everyone going nuts?"  I told her "He's striking everyone out!!"
Whatta night.
Go Sox!!!

A tough loss for Red Sox fans last night (this morning @ 3:20 AM Eastern), but a tip to Buehler for shutting down Sox hitters for 7 innings.  Dodgers won with a home run in the 18th inning.  Longest game in world series history at just shy of 7.5 hours, 46 players used, including 18 pitchers.  Good game, not a great game on either side in the hitting department, probably due to good pitching and less than stellar hitting.
I can't estimate how many baseballs were used in that game.  30 dozen? 40 dozen?  Seems like every other pitch a new one was thrown into the game or fouled off.

Dodgers...that's one.  Game 4 tonight under perfect conditions.

Sox in five games.  Smiley

I was pulling for the Brewers as well, 'cuz that would be an easy road trip from home to Miller Park to catch a WS game.

18 innings last night for a tough result for the Sox.  No surprise that LA won one at home though.  I don't expect any more.

so, how much is a world series game costing nowadays?

feel sorry for the catcher on each side has to be tough going up/down that long almost like a double header game and way late at night I'd be tired for sure, my old knees could not take that much nor my thumb for when I was a catcher in high school/underhand fast pitch,  I kept injuring my weak left thumb due to too many hard pitches coming my way, plus crappy catchers mitt.  I played a few years underhand fast pitch as a catcher with much better and much, much faster pitchers and a first basemans mitt catching sucks for sure not enough padding in the right places - OUCH!!!

Red Sox just took game #4, had a big 9th inning, up 3 games to 1. Score: 9-6, one more in LA then back to Boston if the Sox don't close it out.

I could not believe that Dave Roberts pulled Rich Hill in the seventh last night.  He had allowed only one hit and was cruising.  This is one he wont live down and the fans will let him know.

For Cookie.  Back in 06 I paid 300 apiece for tickets  for World Series game 2, My beloved Tigers against the Cardinals. The Tigers won that game in Detroit.  I took my nephew ( a recent CMU grad ) and paid his way also.  He is such a huge Tiger's fan.   I imagine they can be quite a bit more now.

Dave Roberts is a fine manager and clearly truthful in his exclamatory statements to the press. Wink

The Red Sox only lost three games out of fourteen in their series against the Yankees (spit), the Astros, and the Dodgers.  That is dominance by a complete team in three weeks of competition: hitting, pitching, defense.

Mission accomplished; too bad the season's over but for the big parade Wednesday.
Wish I could be there with my dad, puffin' on that nickel Phillies. angel

They absolutely deserved it. Best record in baseball and they win the series. Does not happen often. I give them credit and I am not a Boston fan.
