Craigslist scam of the week. I got this email. I knew it was dodgy but just wanted to see how they hoped to set the hook. Hello,
I'm Diana, happy to see you are interested in my 2013 Jeep Wrangler sport . The car drives excellent and is without any mechanical issues. Model is Wrangler sport with a Engine: 3.6L Engine 4WD Safety Features: Anti-Lock Brakes, Driver Airbag, Passenger Airbag Power Options: Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, Power Windows Exterior Color: Orange Here you have the VIN # 1c4bjwdg2dl531785.The price is $14,000. This belonged to my husband and after he passed away I decided to sell it. I moved at my daughter because I had a throat surgery and I will remain here for few months at least. I'm located in Sioux City, IA. I have signed a contract with eBay to take care of the selling on my behalf. The car is already at the shipping company here in Sioux City sealed and ready for the shipping. Thank youI thought I would poke the snake to see what response I would get. In order for us to move forward I need your name, shipping address and phone no. so I can initiate the transaction through ebay. After that they will contact you with all necessary information about this transaction. Thank you I've sent them a wrong name, old address and old phone number. Let's see what happens next. Quick response. They must be feeling the line twitching Grin I have already contacted eBay, I gave them all the necessary information. From what I understood it will take up to 12/24 hours(depending on how many pending cases are), also they must check all the details of the transaction and verify if everything complies with eBay Buyer Protection standards.

Same jeep is advertised in a second ad but with a different location. I hope that the amount of suckers is getting smaller as time goes by. |

Even though the "seller" stated I would be able to have the vehicle to test for 5 days before purchase suddenly they want payment wired to them. They aren't very good at this scamming gig. How to make the payment?

In your first email you stated I could test the Jeep for 5 days before payment???
The eBay email asks for the payment to be wired.
I have a friend who lives an hour away from the Jeep.
Can he come inspect it before payment is made?

I saw an 'unbeatable' deal on a big Harley that was very similar.
No direct 'phone number, the seller would communicate only by some kind of text messaging.
My BS detector went off immediately, but just for the heck of it I pursued it for a couple of days.
The advertisement was in Biloxi, MS, but the bike was supposedly up in the midwest somewhere.
Like the ad being discussed..... "ready for shipment", "send payment by wire transfer" etc. etc. etc.
Scam.

I responded this past week to a scam on craigslist thinking it was legit on a vehicle about 7K off of what it should sell for. Had legit pics and address of a road in Madison so kept emailing the craigslist ad and finally got a response from nephew saying car was his aunts so contact her giving me her email address. So, I did and immediately got a response saying car not in Madison but somewhere else other state and will arrange all handling/shipping thru amazon.
That person even said it was her ex spouses car she got in the divorce settlement who going thru a divorce since he cheated on her and she needed the money to pay bills. I never responded back but was going to respond stating, 'I can understand why your husband cheated on you being an ugly big fat +itch' but never did.
9.9 times out of 10 if the deal is too good to be true, it is bogus.
