the plan of the left and UN is to cause total chaos whereas the general populace will give up their freedoms for peace and safety.

https://www.weeklystandard.com/alice-b-lloyd/mind-the-link-marijuana-heightens-the-risk-of-psychosis

Psychosis usually rears its head during one’s late teens or early 20s, which happens to be within a couple years of a typical recreational user’s first experience with marijuana. It’s a complex set of mental disorders that covers symptoms like hallucinations, paranoid delusions, all the way to full-blown schizophrenia—which, while sometimes manageable, has no known cure.

The link, Gold is certain, will come to bear as legalization gains. “I certainly expect there will be an uptick,” he said, citing a study showing an overall increase in use after legalization. “Let's presuppose that there will be an increase in the number of young people using cannabis. Then by extension there will be an uptick in the number of people developing psychosis a year down the road,” Gold said. As legalization takes root, the perception of marijuana’s harmfulness and knowledge of its risks have diminished.

Just as Gold and his brother found the link something of a surprise in the midst of their research, most patients find it quite a shock. Even men and women who take their health seriously, he said, consider marijuana—especially when it’s not smoked—more or less harmless. Though the research they cite is robust, “It hasn’t really crossed over into the public consciousness and I’m not sure why.”

I think we in Canada are going to regret this month's cross-country legalization of marijuana.

Go smoke some weed buddy, it's not bad for you. They have lied to you.

Consuming alcohol or cigarettes is a much worse service you are doing to your body.

Decriminalizing (for possessing/using an ounce or three) is one thing.

Legalizing is another.  Big voluntary tax revenue is nice, but waving the wand of complete legitimacy is not so nice.  That tobacco and liquor is legal is relevant, but not really compelling (given their known harms).  Legalizing something that gets people stoned just to get big tax revenue smells like corruption (it's OK for the State to make money on it, but not organized crime).  Decriminalizing something to not fill up scarce jail cells that ought to be available for violent offenders is a righteous thing.

If we could get people to moderate themselves in all things, that would also be nice.  But they don't.

Gambling, drugs, and prostitution are not really victimless crimes.

The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire also seems relevant.

I would like to see marijuana come off Federal Schedule 1 (with coke, crack, heroin, meth, yada), down to a lower schedule.  It doesn't have to be all or nothing.

Agreed. there's a big difference between making something legal and dropping the kind of penalties we have now. Right now it's like treating 5mph over the limit as if it's the same as grand theft auto.

I always chuckle when folk tout the increased revenue, but have no idea what the costs to society will be. In CA they claim legal weed has reduced drunk driving deaths, but increased the total number of accidents. Dunno if it's true, or desirable.
