In all your motorcycle travels, what was the most beautiful or amazing place you have seen?

For me it would be the Grand Canyon

Hard to say....I have ridden coast to coast and boarder to boarder and into Canada. There is beautiful places all over this great country. But along with Meathead Sedona is pretty cool. Many great places in New Mexico,Colorado and Northern California.

Sunrise atop Mt. Washington is my winner. It was perfectly clear and you could see the sun come up over the Atlantic.

And, yes, my options are limited, never been past Dayton, Ohio.  Someday...

The last place I visited…………..always, the last place I visited.

On my cross country trip this summer I learned that God is a showoff and we are the luckiest people in the world.  We have been lucky to travel quite a bit and have seen a lot over the years, but there is nothing like the beauty of the US.  DDT is right: bike, car, truck, train, hitch-hike; doesn't matter.  Just get out there and see it while you can.

Ya, it's hard to beat Lambeau!

The "most beautiful place" can be very subjective, considering the vast array of different types of geography on this continent where most of us have done all of our riding, and the particular memories we may have of our time there. For me, I could say the Kootenays in BC with their abundance of great mountains, lakes, rivers and forests which certainly make that area beautiful, but they also hold special memories for me as my boyhood home; the wide open and rugged expanses of Montana and Wyoming are beautiful to me because they are so expansive and you feel so insignificant when riding through their heart on a lonely 2-laner; the Canadian or Colorado Rockies are beautiful with their unmatched majestic mountain peaks; the rolling green hills and beautiful curvey roads of Kentucky were the most beautiful sights I ever saw after riding several hot and dusty days in a straight, flat line across middle America; the wheat and canola fields of the prairies and the endless horizon can be beautiful because they're so different from what I'm mostly used to here in BC; and finally, there are places on this continent that I haven't had the chance to ride to yet but that will probably be the most beautiful thing I've seen when or if I get a chance to. Not trying to be over-philosophical here, it's just that I find it impossible to define just one or two places I've ridden as the "most beautiful". One thing I am sure about though, is that every place is more beautiful when on two wheels instead of four cooldude

I drove 18 wheeler ALL over this Fair Land of OURS. I lost track of the sunrises and sunsets I've been blessed with. Been to Canada and Mexico and Every State in The Union. Most beautiful place? Anywhere I've been and everything I've seen. From the crowded cities to the rolling plains to Mountains I've only gotten close to the top of. From below zero temps and to temps that Will fry yer brain. And some of the man made "stuff" bridges roads buildings and some of the damage man has done and continues to do. I've been Very fortunate in my chosen profession-driving truck. I got PAID to go to places other folks paid to git to.  cooldude The BEAUTY is everywhere in Our Country-it IS up to YOU to go find it. RIDE SAFE.

One time in the Eastern mountains it started raining so hard and got so dark it was hard to see the road (or past the windshield).  Lightning and thunder made it even more fun.  Proceeding along with care, I spotted an old tumbledown lean-to shed with an overhang on one end big enough to ride under near the road.  The ground was firm, and I just rode over tall grass and weeds and right underneath.  Got off and got a towel out and wiped my face.  It was a beautiful place to be out of the weather and watch the wild storm.  It was nice no skunks or other interesting varmints lived in that shed, but I didn't think of that until later.

The only Western riding I've done is CA and NV, and Big Bear Lake and San Jacinto & San Gorgonio Mountains are pretty nice in good weather, but I still like the Eastern mountains better for riding.

It's also the only place I've ever ridden in full gear in snowy, freezing conditions, then come down the mountains and had to take it all off for 80 degrees on the same ride.

The first time I was on the road leading up to Sedona both my wife and I were in awe of the landscape. As midwestern flatlanders we had never seen anything quite like that. We plan on being Arizonian's in the next 3-5 years. Sedona is a must see in my opinion.

Too much to be able to pick just one location.

When I drive north up the 4 lane towards Clayton GA there is one point as I come over the crest of a hill that the N GA mountains come into view. That always puts a smile on my face.

If you like geology Zion is stunning.

The top of Mt Evans on a clear day.

Riding into Revelstoke BC with clouds hanging down nearly to the lake surface.

The BRP with sunbeams streaming through a tunnel of trees.

Riding up Hwy 58 from Damascus VA following a UPS panel truck whirling a vortex of dry autumn leaves for me to ride through.

And so on.

There is breathtaking beautiful scenery, there is that quiet moment hiking around Sedona when you come to the small stream fed lake and the October colors wow you, there is riding the Palisades Parkway or Taconic Parkway with mile after mile of amazing colors red, oranges yellows, then there is the holy crap I hope I can get thru this wonder of the thunderstorms in wide open prarie or funnelclouds overhead after seeing those 40000ft thunderheads for hours out in western Kansas

I like any moment where I notice a change, be it a change in the air as I realize I am close to a stream, crossing a bridge where the wind suddenly smacks you upside the head

The only thing I dont like is going downhill in the rain on twisties
fortunately that only happens almost every ride these days

Yeah Sedona, then Zion are at the top  The skagway railroad to BC and the icefields parkway also incredible

Hope we all get to enjoy many more of these moments

Funny you saying that.... ha.   My last motorcycle long distance trip was a tour of Colorado for 5 days from Houston.    The trip was brought on by a guy couple years older than me named Eddie Welllbourne.    Eddie has always hunted Colorado every yr with  mules and horses in a Wilderness area.  Eddie is about 72 now.   Don't see him often.   2 yrs ago I ran into Eddie in Tomball Tx and in the coversation he asked me when was my last motorcycle trip and I told him it had been a couple years.    In all his wisdom he said "Boy... this ain't no Dress Rehearsal.... git your butt up and go on a motorcycle trip".   Went home and started packing....ha

I have had the enjoyment of seeing most of the Western half and some of the eastern half of the US in my short time here.   I have found beauty in most of the places.  I even enjoyed the high desert country of WY.  To pick one place would be disservice to all of them.

Though I do enjoy standing on 10' of snow looking out across Crater Lake, and yes I rode my Valk up to the parking lot.

I've been blessed to have been able to ride in many of the most beautiful parts of the US and Canada.  I usually prefer mountainous to flat.  I have found that many places can range from beautiful to stunning, depending on the light, weather, and direction of travel/viewing.  Many years ago, I organized the now defunct VRCC Alberta chapter on one of three or four annual Victoria Day weekend trips to Nelson, BC, and on the Sunday we rode west from Nelson on the 3A, then north on 6 towards New Denver.  The highway was climbing on the east side of Slocan Lake, with a view of clouds clinging to the sides of the mountains of Valhalla Provincial Park on the west side of the lake, following the contours of the steep mountainside.  There were clouds overhead, clinging to the mountain we were climbing, and we were soon riding up into their fog.  As we continued to climb, the sun cut through the top of the cloud, and when we emerged it was like riding into heaven, with the sun shining on the wet pavement and on the cloud that surrounded us.  It's a memory I will keep forever.  I've been on that road several times since, but never with the same magic.

Another time, there were a small number of us from our CMA chapter heading to Kelowna for a early September rally, and since the weather was predicted to be colder than usual and one of us was suffering from a cold, there were only two of us on motorcycles. with the other two or three following in a car.  As we were riding west, about to go through Canmore, we could see the rainclouds ahead, made more dramatic by the mountains on either side, and the morning sun shining on them from behind us.  Cresting a ridge as we passed through Canmore, an intensely brilliant rainbow descended from in front of the dark clouds, ending on the highway a few miles ahead of us.  To me it felt like God placing His blessing on our weekend.

Here is the Google Streetview location:
https://www.google.ca/maps/@51.0846935,-115.339094,3a,75y,314.98h,89.01t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sPnYCb44Tv7UDQ0ND63QVXA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en

This photo (not mine) is similar to what I saw, and is in roughly the same location, but late in the afternoon, facing east rather than west:

The intensity of the rainbow was more like this, also at Canmore (and not my photo):

Although it would be nice to photograph these scenes and similar, I don't think photos ever capture the intensity of the experience.  I would rather take a mental photo and keep riding.

The Glacier Highway, British Columbia 37A from Stewart-Hyder to the Cassiar highway (Meziadin Junction) wins it for me. There are lots of places that are nice but this 66 kilometers of road is beautiful beyond all others for me.

Top of the world Highway from Dawson YT. to Chicken AK. has some really nice views with mile after mile of great scenery. Second place?

Icefields Parkway in BC is going to be a close third.

Yeah , Sedona is okay   Roll Eyes

Lake Tahoe  , amazing scenery

PCH 101

Mount Shasta

No one place , too many come to mind

Sedona has been over sold , very very crowded , nightmare  traffic , still , I can't say I ever get tired of the scenery .
I do get real tired of the  slow  driving tourist , they do not know how to navigate round a bouts , they stop and sit there  .
And then there's the damn flat landers .      Alright , Kidd , relax

One more place that is special for me is a weekend trip my wife and I and another couple took to Vegas.  We rented bikes and rode around Lake Mead,  the Valley of Fire and the desert area around Vegas.  This was a glorious day in late October 2013.

Very much so. The issue is I would really like to work another 3-4 years and the housing prices are beginning to soar in Prescott due to all the Californians wanting to retire there with lots of money to spend on housing, hence the prices go up. We go out west every year and are thinking about maybe buying some land in 2019 just to put a stake in the ground. (Pun intended)

Since this thread started I have been thinking of the "Most Beautiful Place" we have been, and as many have said there are so many places that its tough to pick one. I agree.
As I said it got me thinking and the only real answer I came up with is wherever we ride there is some kind of beauty, that's why we ride to find the beauty the cagers never see or understand.
The real beauty for me is sharing it (like Whiskey said, "anywhere she is")  cooldude with my Wife and also with friends. Friends always make a ride more special and somehow more beautiful.
Just my interpretation.....
