It’s now been 32 years 11 months sense pot passed my lips. I would expect however that the preferred method of becoming stoned is going to be by smoking it. So were is the outrage from the anti smokers. Well you say we’ll be eating it in cooking things like brownies, cookies, and such. Wouldn’t pot just be another form of tobacco as is chewing tobacco that causes cancers such as mouth , throat and stomach cancer. I do remember when the baggie was empty or the pipe wouldn’t draw well there was that pipe screen that had to be “ cleaned”.

I don't think much good will come from it and I don't buy into the "harmless" weed doctrine. There are clear indicators that states that have made it legal have also seen increases in automobile accidents, youths getting to it at early ages (if its already in the house) and greater demands on law enforcement. All the state is looking at is their perception of all this additional revenue that will come into the state and no thought to the additional costs that will be incurred as a result of the legalization.
I had to send out a memo reinforcing our drug policy here at the workplace just to remind folks that while it may be legal in Michigan our company policy still has a zero tolerance for non prescription drug use and there are consequences for failing a drug test.

Yeah, even if you have a valid prescription for canabas from another state - don't get caught with it in Kansas. This applies equally to both Colorado as well as Missouri (and any other states).

Agreed and even those with prescription, if they take a drug test and it comes up positive it is a violation of most company policies that I am aware of. Having a prescription does not make them exempt.

And legal or not, a pot card (or documented legal purchases) makes you ineligible to buy and/or own firearms (Federal law, and pot is still on federal schedule 1).
Federal Form 4473 still asks you (under penalty of perjury) if you are an unlawful user of marijuana (and even if your state is legal, your Fed is not legal). You can check no if you want to, but there can be consequences.
I would not forfeit my gun rights for a buzz (even a good one).

IF I read this post right the consensus is that this passing is going to increase the pot smokers young and old? Is it not so that right now pot is being used by young and old alike? For those that use, it is and always has been a phone call away. Kids that smoke pot are doing so right now, same with adults. It's readily available just like always.

I get my information from family in MI, not personal experience.
An ounce of good Colombian (or equivalent) is/was at or over $400.
An ounce of legal MI homegrown is about $200 (and I hear it's decent, but not Colombian equivalent).
I suppose legalization (medical and recreational) will cut down on and compete well with unlawful importation..... and the crime and violence that goes with it. That is one upside. Maybe the only one.
Besides all the various Mary Jane cuisine, I also hear they are distilling some forms of medicine and topical applications from it. I don't know if the FDA gets involved in this, since it's still federally illegal, and I have no idea if any of it is actually any good medically speaking. (besides making terminal illnesses more tolerable)

Personally, I am pretty ticked off by it. It just means an increase in drugs coming into Indiana. If I were an ISP officer, I would park my cruiser at the first turnaround south of the Michigan state line. Could be a boon to Indiana in the form of fines for pot.
Speaking of propaganda, I find the pro-pot "information" to be as laughable: Pot cures cancer (all forms), diabetes, Alzheimers, dementia, bad skin, bad breath, bad moods, incontinence, diarrhea, constipation, upset stomach, headaches, back aches, belly aches, drug dependency, baldness, tardiness, and procrastination. It cures everything! And does no, none, nada, zero harm to anyone. Good for young and old! It's just a plant! (So is opium, peyote, mushrooms and cocaine.) However, it doesn't seem to cure stupidity.

My comments made about younger users was based on a study I read that complied statistics from several states that have legalized pot for recreational use. The possible reasons stated were easier access because it is in homes already and it is deemed to be more socially acceptable without the stigma of being involved with drug dealers and illegal activity which lessens the reactions of the parents. It further stated that the illegal sales actually increased as people can now grow their own without fear of legal retribution and then sell it to both bordering states and to others within their state that do not wish to grow their own for prices lower than the dispensaries.
