It appears that's what I'm having, thought it was a pulled muscle in back on the right side but apparently not. Dr. came to see my wife today and checked me out while here, told me after much poking and prodding it wasn't a muscle. Said judging by that and my explanation of what was going on it was pretty certain the gall bladder, suggested I get it checked out posthaste. Extreme pain on the right side below the ribs in back, periodic chest pain not in the area of the heart, some abdominal pain but seldom. I found hydrocodon is my friend, just a half tab though. Just what I need on top of everything else, plus going through what DDT is at the moment. In talking to my wife about all this going on right now, I asked the question "what next."  She kinda giggled and said she could think of a couple things. Evil I tell you....evil!  Grin

My wife went through this 22 years ago I found her laying on the bathroom floor in pain!  She was pregnant with my daughter at the time so they wasn't much they could do until after she gave birth, two weeks later she had it removed.  Her gall bladder not my daughter Smiley
Quick easy surgery quick recovery!
The only thing the helped the pain at the time was percocet she was popping them like candy.  They claimed it wouldn't affect the baby she is now a 22 year old engineer working in NYC great kid!

I've been bleghhh since the beginning of October. They've probed
my gallbladder - no stones, but that doesn't necessarily mean it
isn't worn out. Going to an appointment Monday, probably
getting some more probes scheduled  Wink . So far everything
they've probed makes me seem like I ought to be the picture
of health. I certainly don't have pain like y'all describe, just bleghhh...
perhaps pain comes from gall stones, similar to the pain from kidney stones?

If memory serves me{ 2funny) I heard that a gall bladder may be removed by laproscopic surgery and vacuum. Mom had her's done many years ago. The stones looked like corn kernels and just as large. Her surgery was with a chain saw according to her.

Ross, you're right on the type of procedure, one of my daughters and two of her kids had theirs removed. Told me her scars look like she had been shot a couple times in the gut with a 38, had it done on a Thursday, back to work Monday. My neighbor went home the same afternoon, was perfect timing for him....said it got him out of painting the living room for another week. Sounds like he milked it real good. If I can make it through the weekend, I'll chk with my primary so I can get a CT or some other scan. I know I have stones, just probably got to the breaking point re. size.

Have or are you scheduled for a scan ?  I didn't think the right side was for gallbladder pain, mine was left side. 3 little holes poked in the belly and I was home that afternoon doing yard work. The pain I was having one time from right side were from kidney stones [ after blasting], that was some kind of hurt.

Patrick, I've had kidney stones, spent 5 days in the hospital from one that wouldn't pass. This is altogether a different pain and according to one of my daughters and two grandkids, what I described to them is exactly what they had before having it removed. Strange yours was on the left side since the organ is on the right, there's no mistaking where my pain is located. Just trying to make it to Monday so I can get someone to stay with Rita while I take care of this. Also going through the prostate thing like DDT, maybe it's time to jack up my butt and run a new body under it.  Grin

Mine was like Jess's. Mine mimicked a heart attack which they can do. I've had 7 kidney stones, 5 of which were fetched and ended with a stent for 5 days following removal. Gall bladder pain is a whole different ball game and I can't describe it other than the heart attack type pain. Both kidney stones and gall bladder issues suck! Get your gall bladder taken care of.

Yep John, it kinda thru them a curve too and took awhile for them to figure this out.  They took the gall bladder and duct. Not a big deal i didn't think.
But, you're right the pains were different with the kidney stones. But, it was still PAIN. Hope it never happens again. I'm not about to let the left kidney get blasted.

I agree about the new body. I wish we were like cars, remove the radiator cap and back the car away, drive in the new car and put on the radiator cap. A week later replace the radiator cap with a new one and walla !

Mine unfolded over a period of years.  First I'd have an attack about once a year, once, on the way to work, had to pull over to the side of the road until it passed.  Then, it started doing it a couple time a year - didn't know what it was.  Then it started doing it about once a month, each time getting worse.  Towards the end, it was doing it once a week - I'd wake up about 2 in the morning doubled over and I'd be pretty much wiped out the next day.  My eyes would get a yellowish tinge.  I found that sitting up in bed would make it pass quicker.  It was bad - I think it was as bad if not worse than heart attack (I've had both).  Finally went to the doctor (yup I'm hard headed).  I had 6 stones a little bit bigger than marbles, so it had to come out.  This was back before the new procedure so I've got a 6 inch scar on my belly.  Took a long time to heal.  From what I understand, the new procedure can just about be done through out patient procedures, or at lease no more that 1 day in the hospital.  The only difference I've noticed with it gone (other than no pain) is that I can't handle some greasy foods, just have no desire for them anymore.  It's weird though, usually can't eat hamburgers, but I could eat pizza all day long.   Took a couple of years before I could have anything greasy for breakfast.

Getting old sucks.

I'm getting old....... and you guys are scaring me.

Cut it out.   Grin

I think I have a little (more) skin cancer on the left forearm (that gets the sun in the driver's seat your whole life), so off to the sawbones this week myself.

Just cut the damn thing off (the cancer, not the arm please).

not sure what my scare was posted on here a few months ago had severe middle chest pains really really bad happened 3 times in less than 1 month.  Not had one instance this month after test result at drs. office as usual showed nothing.   Sure hope it stays that way.

co-worker just last week has been having severe belly pains enough to miss work.  Went to dr. last week and found what appears to be an inflammation (growth) in her colon age 58.  She is taking pills next 10 days to hopefully decrease the pain and inflammation first before a colonoscopy in a few weeks.  Sure hope it is nothing but she told me colon cancer runs in her family.

Yes,  it sure does suck getting OLDER for all of us since seems like the older we get, the more pain and suffering we tend to get.
