good article, I know Harley isn't everyones cup of tea.  But if they ever went out of business that would be horrible unthinkable really. I wish them the best.

[My students] view it as the tired old folks who screwed up America.

Never thought of it that way.

I'm guessing those students would weep uncontrollably if this old tired folk told them what he thought of some of them. Sniff. Sniff.

An interesting article. When they presented facts, they were spot on. When they gave opinions, I feel they were 50% correct at best.  I have (and do) own both Honda & Harley, but have no tattoos of either Wink
FWIW, Most folks, including me, ever cared a hoot about Buell, and I feel the 650 single Buell Blast should have been styled more traditionally in the classic style of a late 60's early 70's BSA/Triump/Norton light bike, BUT with a low saddle height for new/younger riders. KC plant never should have been built unless it made sense to replace York. Like car companies, H-D should have concentrated on some models with more entry-level pricing.
ANNNNNNND-last but not least, they had a long time to perfect a basic 45° V-Twin. Too bad they didn't. Time after time, a new engine came out with inexcusable design problems. Cam chain tensioners, coolant leaks, oil migration, heck they could have cut a few 30 year old metric bikes apart if they couldn't figure those things out. Whether a GWing or an FLT, when you are spending more on a bike than a really nice car costs, you aren't going to put up with junk. Ever.

Understood, but I'm not surprised a bit. Most media spend and have spent an enormous % of their time educating the current "yout" about how awful everything is, and how it's all the fault of everybody but them. Using a Captain Obvious dividing line between "too young to blame" and "everybody else in recorded history" is a rather poor way to start them thinking IMHO.

Its interesting that weathering downturns, improving current models and pricing, Harley never learned. I would not want them to go out either.

Usually most businesses that do not keep up and make changes are the ones that DO go out of business. HD has been lucky so far, but they need to start or they won't make it. That would be a shame....

Simple Demographics...half the soy boy snowflake generation don't even have a drivers license (something about that being part of that evil white patriarchy...or... we're all going to die from global warming so why bother)  2funny
And those who were properly socialized under adult supervision mostly want what the Japanese and Europeans are offering these days.
BTW...if you see one of those man bun creatures thumbing a ride, give him a nice friendly wave on the way by...he just arrived in a worm hole from 1967.
