I have have 2 Samsungs and one died and they would not fix it. Cleaning the screen is also a pain. I replaced the dead one with a Sony and I am happy I did. Better picture easier to clean the screen and the setup menu gives more options. Not to mention if you get a dvd player get the Sony also. Here is a site that I find helpful, the link should take you to the reviews on the size you want.

75 inch, WOW,  and here i thought my 55 inch was plenty.  Although, the bigger the room, the bigger the TV screen needed.

IMO,  they are all made the same and I almost always get the best deal (cheapest) on Black Friday having no issues with any of them.  Most are made by Element from WalMart and might not be picture perfect and refresh rate not superior, but is plenty good enough for my old eyes.

My EX-techy neighbor had to have the latest and greatest by Samsung, etc. and has gone thru more TV's than me having issues with all of them in 5-6 years or less spending triple or 4x's the cost of a similar sized TV.

I say start shopping for Black Friday deals for this coming week since that is your best deals based upon COST.  Not many are that size though most 65 inches on down.

It is going on a TV stand. I have been reading reviews and such and I am probably going to settle on a 65". The value seems to be much better. And with the money we save we can get a sound bar too. Going from an 8 year old budget 50" it will be night and day improvement.
So far this is leading the charge. We have been using Roku for about 5 years...

Not specific advice, just generic.

For electronics (and other things), I have found that Costco, while having a limited selection of any particular device, often has the best price you can find on some very good quality/highly rated devices.  IF they have anything in the running for your requirements.

And, Costco give 2-yr warranties on everything, most of which only have 1-yr warranties anywhere else.  And Costco allows returns without the arguments/proctology exam that most other places will give you.

It's where I got my TV.

We just bought a TCL 32" from Costco, picture is great the remote is very simple but with cable TV you don't really use it.
We also bought a Sony soundbar for it so now the sound is better but if you want the best sound you should get a 5.1 surround sound.

We have had Roku for 5 years and love it. The best way for products for development...me buying something. I really want a 75" but they only make this in a 65"...just after I buy the 65" they will come out with a 75"...

not sure if same TCL model, but this 65 inch black friday deal at Target has ROKU TV and probably anything else you would want for 600 bucks - good deal!

https://www.target.com/p/tcl-65-4k-hdr-120hz-cmi-roku-smart-led-tv-black-65s405/-/A-50939781

I agree,  75 inch rarely has the BEST deals are normally 50-55 inch TV's on down having the best deals.

Like said,  my 55 inch having ROKU, etc. Element TV from Walmart (or was it Target) for I think 199 bucks black friday deal is now over 6 years old and use it daily running 2-4 hours weekdays and 8+ hours on weekends and still going fine.  I am NOT brand specific IMO any brand is fine usually taking chances even if Samsung or Sony or LG or whatever....  I cannot tell picture quality better from a 2000 TV vs. a 500 dollar TV, although the refresh rate of my Element 55 inch about 3-4 times daily that I notice gives just for a split second a bad/blurred picture, but I do not care.

I replaced by Samsung Plasma 55" with a Sony Bravia 65" 4k from Best Buy a year ago.

It is wall mounted.  The reason I asked about the mounting was planning for expansion.  When I built the house I installed some extra beams on the wall where the TV would be mounted.  The size is limited to about 65" due to space.  I also ran two CAT 6 cables from the bookcases on each side of the TV mounting area and two HDMI cables.   A single coaxial cable was also installed to allow for OTA signals to be included.

I use a Sony AV receiver to control the inputs and sound.  One of the nice things about the Sony is that one of HDMI inputs can recognize the existence of the Sony AV receiver and shifts all audio to it.

In researching the last purchase, I found that Sony was portably the best TV for the price.

I rely on a Roku 4k device for most of my viewing not using the Sony's built in capabilities.  The rational is that if I change the TV again, I only have to reprogram the remote for the new TV.

I also have a TiVo system for OTA signals but the TV can work on its on for  OTA TV if required.

Since I was building the house myself, i ran wires for the surround sound system.  I recently added a Rockfish (Have not checked to verify work on memory) bluetooth system to power some remote speakers (well they are an enclosed porch just off the main room).  The sound from the system appears to be OK.

A Logitech Harmony remote coordinates system operations.  It is the only part of the system I would like to replace but have yet to find an alternative.

The key in all this is planning for the future.  As you add components try and plan for the ability to replace parts and not all of the system.

I have never used a sound bar system so I cannot comment on that.

Oh, the two main speakers for the system are KLH speakers purchased in 1970.  They have been in constant use since then.  I did add a subwoofer since the Sony AV system supported it.

My suggestion is go somewhere that you can view the pictures side by side!
Not all TVs are created equal!  Unfortunately when you do this you will be bumping up your budget or lowering your size expectations.  I replaced my 50" Sony which I loved with a 65" Samsung which is amazing.
Something to note TVs are specially made for Black Friday they may look the same but they are not! They come out with odd sizes and models with striped out features to sell cheap.  Make sure you compare apples to apples.

Move nearer to your TV.

I love hi-tech solutions.   Grin cooldude

I have a small house.  I sit about 8-10 feet from the screen.  To sit farther back, I'd need to sit on the family room toilet, then lean forward to look out the door (and occasionally do when business needs done, but don't want to miss the show or game) (and live alone).

My 37" is the biggest TV I ever owned, and with my Verizon hi-def signal, it still blows me away every time I watch it.  (simple pleasures for simple minds  Smiley)

I still remember growing up with one 19" B & W portable and begging my dad for a new color, and him telling me we didn't waste money on foolishness.  With maybe 5 clear channels, and a couple wiggly ones.   And that was a big house, and you sat 20 feet away (or laid on the floor with a pillow).  The antenna was way up on the top of a high peaked 2d story roof mounted on the giant stone fireplace chimney, and you risked your life going up there on a windy day to get a better signal.

I think most of us still remember our FIRST color TV, am sure almost all were wooden console units more than likely 25 inch picture TV's.  I think ours was first in the late 70s or early 80s and we were in heaven having 5 channels with a rotor box on top of the TV wooden console unit to turn the antenna on the roof to pic up the 5 stations.   Man, a few years later when cable companies came out with 20-30 stations we were in double heaven in the early 1980's.

NOW,  most of us have 50 inch on up TV's and over 100 stations and 80 of them are worthless... 2funny

I may be in the minority here since others have posted that the more so NAME brand as Sony/Samsung, etc. are worth the extra 200-400 bucks in price, but I disagree.  Until one of my 200-250 dollar tops TV's prove me wrong,  I will continue to get under 300 dollar TVs that so far have lasted me 5 years or more no issues.
