https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/washington-state-voters-approved-new-gun-regulations-in-i-1639-heres-what-the-law-will-do/It's not the worst kind of laws, but I'm still not a fan.
1) 21 to buy
any semiauto rifles (all others still 18). Enhanced background check for
all semiauto rifle buyers, and 10 day wait.
2) A more reasonable gun lock up rule. You don't have to lock it up, but if you don't and it gets misused, it can be a misdemeanor or felony. Unlawful entry (B & E, burglary, robbery) doesn't count, so the trouble you're in is if your own family or invitees to your home find and misuse your unsecured gun. This is not so bad; it puts the owner at fault (criminally) if his unlocked gun(s) gets used by anyone with permission to be in his home. As I see it, in these circumstances, the owner would already (likely) be civilly liable for wrongful use of his firearm, this just makes it a crime too.
This would have made the Newtown CT (Sandy Hook school shooting) mother criminally responsible for not securing her guns against her son's mass murder. But Karma had her shot first.
