https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/washington-state-voters-approved-new-gun-regulations-in-i-1639-heres-what-the-law-will-do/

It's not the worst kind of laws, but I'm still not a fan.

1) 21 to buy any semiauto rifles (all others still 18).  Enhanced background check for all semiauto rifle buyers, and 10 day wait.

2) A more reasonable gun lock up rule.  You don't have to lock it up, but if you don't and it gets misused, it can be a misdemeanor or felony.  Unlawful entry (B & E, burglary, robbery) doesn't count, so the trouble you're in is if your own family or invitees to your home find and misuse your unsecured gun.  This is not so bad; it puts the owner at fault (criminally) if his unlocked gun(s) gets used by anyone with permission to be in his home.  As I see it, in these circumstances, the owner would already (likely) be civilly liable for wrongful use of his firearm, this just makes it a crime too.

This would have made the Newtown CT (Sandy Hook school shooting) mother criminally responsible for not securing her guns against her son's mass murder.  But Karma had her shot first.

this is scary

The measure also requires Washington’s firearms licensing agency to begin developing a program to conduct annual verifications to ensure that gun purchasers covered by the new law remain eligible to possess the firearms.

The Republic Police Facebook post, written by Republic Police Chief Loren Culp and posted the day after the initiative was passed, stated that “no Republic Police Officer will infringe on a citizens right to keep and Bear Arms, PERIOD!”

I though the guns were in a safe sadly the kid new the code.  I think the safe may have actually been in his room.

This one bothers me more.  Would ban 80 percenters and parts kits.  They don't want you to be able to roll your own.

Also disturbing is, there is no "grandfather" provision in the text.  I expect this will pass both houses easily.  No doubt Trump will veto it.  Yep, let the liberals have both houses and here come the laws trampling on our rights.  Constitutional Carry has no chance now.  Enough of this crap and maybe folks will wake up for the next election cycle.  Looking for 2020 to get both houses back.  I hope some looney like Hillary runs so Trump can beat her easily.  But then he could very well shoot himself in the foot in the meantime.
