So I wanted to ride today. sunny, salt all gone from the rains BMW has a new battery but wouldnt start The bike I got from Stan would not start (again- I had to charge it overnight last month as well) So went to get my 01 Valk keys W T F They were not where they ALWAYS are They have their place of honor in a cabinet in the kitchen and ALWAYS I put them there So went into my tool chest where I keep the spare key W T F The key was not on the key chain So searched the house, pissed off the wife by moving her stuff around and with my Bronx language skills but no joy Went to go in the garden but the right upright for the gate had fallen over ! So went to home depot to get new 4x4 quick concrete and a new plastic pail. Dug out the old concrete and set up new 4x4 in same spot so door would open and close properly. In an hour the gate was good as new with deer fence staple gunned back up. The pressure treated 4x4 has rotted out in 4 yrs W T F 50 lbs of concrete ought to keep that from happening again and the upright is plumb all aspects. So decided to pressure wash the fence on the side of the house as mold growing on the north sides looks bad in spots(facing our house) Got 24 feet down and no pressure W T F The high pressure hose has a nice leak hole so no pressure Will now order the gun and hose and the gun end will not unscrew W T F Hotglue, I just had a few shots of #6 that I got from you and I feel a bit better now. Wash em down with some m&M's for good measure Ever have a day where stuff just cascades? Can we order keys on VID# or do we need code from the ignition? The way my day is progressing I am not touching the 01 Valk Maybe the Lord was just keeping me from harm on the Valk today is what the wife says. She may be right Ride safe Oss

Ever have a day where stuff just cascades? Yes, plenty of times. And the older I get, and my house gets, and all my stuff gets, the more often it happens. (I never lose keys though) Now past 60 inches of rain for the year, I have another lake in my backyard. And leaves to clean up. I should change the oil in my machines, but no time for that now. Two thirds of the day shot with hard and dirty work, and it got near 60, and I really wanted a ride today. But I just showered and had breakfast and lunch, and I am whipped, so no ride, again. With me, work always comes first. Sure glad I'm retired. With pressure treat lumber, it's my experience that every 30th board or timber doesn't get treated enough. The proof is right there in my long backyard solid 7' fence and big deck. Most of it is fine, but some of it is rotten.

This is the first time in years that I said the heck with everything else and did mostly nothing around the house. Most of the time its rides around the projects just like you. I have learned to make sure that everything is in its place and everything is working like it should before I put it away, otherwise you have to repair something that turns out to be project before you get to the real project. Man nothing pisses me off more than that or when the tool you want is mia. The key thing got me the other day though for a few minutes, was going out to lunch and gotten all ready closed the house up and locked the door without the key went to the garage to start the bike and realized at this point I didn't have my keys. So no big deal get them from the house, oh S###, I locked the door, oh ok can get the spare hidden key, go into the house no keys hanging up. Huh, wth, where did I leave them, well 10 minutes pass looking for the keys and just have to look in the garage one more time before I get the spare set. Did not want to call the wife that was waiting for me shopping since I knew she was probably headed over to the place we were going to eat at already. I know, I had them earlier when I washed the bike. Still didn't dawn on me though, well looked at the bike one last time and OOOPPPs. left them in the gas door lock. OH well at least I found them, wife didn't know and all was well. You need the key number that is usually 3 or 4 digits on the key.

Robert, the place I can lose a key is down under the center cover seat latch.
Technically, it's not lost, it's just misplaced.
Tearing the place apart for a key that is in the bike. WTF??!!!!

Did you look in the ignition on the bike, or other sure place?
The 3 digit code can get you a new key made from the lock smith

50 lbs of concrete ought to keep that from happening again and the upright is plumb all aspects.

It's been my experience that pouring concrete around a wooden post only promotes the rotting process. Rams

I "Lost" my key several times over the years by leaving it in the seat lock after removing the seat for some reason. Any chance you did the same?
Sometimes you just need to yield to a higher power. There was some reason you shouldn't have been riding today.

found the main key next to the washing machine within 20 seconds of coming home just now. It was just sitting there grinning at me. Can keys really grin ? My wife said earlier that as soon as we get back from dinner with friends, when you can no longer ride, the key will appear Smart woman or maybe she put the key there Thanks Mike for riding for me today ! You are a good friend. Oss I wrote down the code for the key so I can order 2 or 3 more

been there, don that dozens of times just this past summer of riding. In past years I usually do not leave my keys in the ignition on the Valk. This year have torn my house apart a few times since I use to always put all keys ASAP on the key holder. NOT this year, go out and look dozens of times this summer and right where I left them, in the ignition - IDIOT!!! Old age forgetfulness sucks! I have even done that a few times this summer leaving keys in ignition at stores only to find out when coming out still in ignition. Luckily I do not live near high crime areas or the Valk would have been stolen. I too had plans to get the cycles washed/oil changed this holiday 4 days off work. Unfortunately had other odd jobs to do BEFORE snow comes like yardwork, A/C unit cleaned put up, snow tires on cars, repairs on a car, and the list goes on and on. I even had issues yesterday with the garden hose screwed into the outer faucet. Darn metal snapped right off on the garden hose attached to the faucet outside so had to grab the other garden hose I had in my frontyard. So, OSS, I know how you feel, when it rains, it pours. When this happens, I try to NOT over-do the days events for already pissed off from simple things not going right as they should. Jobs that should take 30 minutes usually turns into 2 hours of work or not done at all same day needing spare parts.

Evan,
We usually don't know of the reason or purpose behind what appears to be misfortune when it arrives, but... that stroke of 'bad luck' may have been a huge blessing disguised as an 'aw-shucks'! Personally, I think Bonnie may be on to something here. We've all been there... perhaps we shouldn't look a gift horse... Besides, at a minimum, your did get some important chores out of the way, right? Glad you're in tact and still around to tell the tale!!!

Yep I sure have had days like that. Sometimes too many of them.
The Honda dealer in Daytona made me a spare key from the vin # once.

Maybe the Lord was just keeping me from harm on the Valk today is what the wife says.
The wife and I use that saying all the time. Whether having issues like you had, or some plan fell through, or even just getting stopped by a traffic light, the Good Lord didn't want us down that stretch of road at that time. Sure makes ruined/changed plans easier to accept...
