I have had a Hopnel tank bib for some time now. It’s been repaired a few times, but I’ve really liked it. But, all good things must come to an end. The pocket stitching blew out a few weeks back, and it didn’t seem to make much sense to keep repairing it. I’m not sure I have the skills for it anyway.

So, I went on the search for a new tank bib. I thought I’d stay with Hopnel because I really liked it. But I couldn’t find anything I liked. Checked out Talismans and found one for a Standard on their website that I really liked, but couldn’t find one for my Interstate. Contacted Scott at Talisman to ask if it could be made. He informed it already was and it’s model #. He also told about another model they had that was on sale. I really liked the look of it and decided to purchase it. Well today it arrived. Couldn’t be happier.

If you are in the market for a tank bib, give Talisman (one of our sponsors) a look. Good product, good customer services.  cooldude

My Interstate came with a worn out (I believe) Hopnel, and I too replaced it with a Talisman and couldn't be happier with it...

Not QUITE as purdy as the Iron Horse on my Standard, but quite nice just the same...

I've always been worried that they do a number on the paint, even if you keep the grit to a minimum. Edges and stuff. Am I worried for no reason, or do I have a valid concern?

My Hopnel did no damage. The Talisman looks to be even softer on the underside. I usually have some dust to clean up on the tank whenever I remove the bib for maintanence under the tank. But it's not hurt the paint at all. Probably wouldn't want to get any sand up under there though.

Can't find that one on their website. I tried contacting them through their website 2 times asking about that dual pocket bib but never heard back from them. Could you share the model #?

S-665, I'm surprised you haven't heard from him. Did you use sales@talismanleather.ca ?

Thanks Meathead. I used the "Contact" link on their website. Just tried it again with the model #.  Update, just found Scott's response to my request in my spam folder. Duh!, should have checked there before.
Update #2- Scott replied, sent invoice & shipped already today. Great customer service!

Thanks again!

Rob,

Our girl and I started out with an Iron Horse, two-pocket bib, and we were quite happy with it. However, during our separation when tman407 had custody of her, he replaced that bib with one from Talisman! It was even monogrammed with her name "ALI" on the pocket flap! I really like that, and I'm proud to have it adorn her tank nowadays!!!

It is a quality product, and it has held-up well over the past four or five years... I've never dealt directly with Scott or anybody at Talisman, but I've heard nothing but praise for them from all I know who have!

Ours does have a little 'pucker' along the left side... due to pilot error, of course! I filled the gas tank right to the brim one time, and then I parked her on an incline to the left immediately afterward! Yeah, my hindsight is 20/20 too, and had I to do it over again... oh well... Just adds a touch of character, don't you think?

That Talisman Double Pouch Bib looks great, might have to look into one. I have the Hopnel Tank Bib which has the removable pocket and I have the matching trunk bib from hopnel.
Hopnel used to make matching Radiator Pod Bibs as well, haven't seen a set of those in a while.

If you have trouble eating and keeping food on your spoon or in your mouth, here's another innovative bib.

I have an old (long discontinued) heavy leather Heritage IS bib and cap cover.  It has seen better days, but every Spring I give it a Kiwi and cotton spit shine and mink oil, and it keeps soldiering on.

All those bib pouches look just like ladies clutch purses, but they do come in handy.
