Portland Gathering - February 22nd and 23rd 2019

Hey Terry. I met you in September 2000 in Maine at what I think was the first gathering of VRCC members from different states. I rode up with Randy Govertson, Paul Sullivan and Dennis Kendrick. Randy, Paul and I met through the Dragon Riders and Dennis was a friend of Paul's from the South Shore of Massachusetts.

Later that Fall, Dave Charron, the Mass State VRCC rep passed and his brother Tom (TC) organized a memorial ride to Dave's resting place in Ashby, MA. That ride was well attended and I think helped establish a united New England VRCC. The 2001 riding season further cemented those relationships as well as new ones as lots of rides occurred. Plus many attended the first INZANE in Zanesville, OH in 2001.

Lots of wonderful rides and memories over the years: David D, Laconia, White Horse Press, Bobaloo VT rides, Moat Mountain and BBQ rides to name a few. And we continue to make new memories. Pretty amazing!

That VRCC Gathering was held at Don and Kim's, right Tony ?? If so, I had Ryan with me that year.
I did not attent DC's ride, as I had an accident on my Valk just a couple weeks earlier....
It is really amazing we have such a solid nucleus after all these years....

I remember meeting you at some sort of park. There was plenty of parking with lots of bikes there. We stayed I think two nights. I remember going out to dinner with Maine Man (Olaf), his girl friend, Don & Kim, the guys I rode up with and maybe more. I don't remember it being at Don's House, but that was a long time ago.

The picture below is from the first Dave Charron Memorial ride in the Fall of 2000.



People rode long distances to attend. I see Don, Kim and Dwight in the pic. I real long way for Dwight to come. I see Bernie next to Paul Sullivan, with Betsy in front of Bernie. And Clue is next to Bernie. Also Martin, Valkrocket, Bobaloo from VT, JR and Dot from RI, Rick T, Randy, Brian (deceased) from VT,  maybe Rich in the back row middle left of center and others that I don't recognize or simply don't remember.

The Group formed in 2000 and gathered strength and members from there. Wonderful that we still get together and enjoy each others company 19 years later.

For me my first ride was Nick's (Botman) fundraiser for 9/11 in November 2001.  We rode down and met in the parking lot of the Intrepid Museum on the lower west side of Manhattan.  From there we had an escort ride down to ground zezo.  My first VRCC ride and my first VRCC patch
