My buddy sent me this. It's good for a chuckle.
The 1944 Christmas tune "Baby, It's Cold Outside" has been banned by radio stations across the country – and even in Canada – for its lyrics that some say are inappropriate in the wake of the #MeToo movement. (True)
Since we are worried about offending some, let's consider the following :
1. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus: implies a cheating mother for gifts. 2. The Christmas Song: Open fire? Pollution. Folks dressed up like Eskimos? Cultural appropriation. 3. Holly Jolly Christmas: Kiss her once for me? Unwanted advances. 4. White Christmas? Racist. 5. Santa Claus is Coming to Town: Sees you when you’re sleeping? Knows when you’re awake? Peeping Tom stalker. 6. Most Wonderful Time of the Year: Everyone telling you be of good cheer? Forced to hide depression. 7. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: Bullying. 8. It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas: Forced gender-specific gifts: dolls for Janice and Jen and boots and pistols (GUNS!) for Barney and Ben. 9. Santa Baby: Gold digger, blackmail. 10. Frosty the Snowman: Sexist; not a snow woman. 11. Do You Hear What I Hear: blatant disregard for the hearing impaired. 12. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas: Make the yuletide GAY? Wow, just wow. 13. Jingle Bell Rock: Giddy up jingle horse, pick up your feet: animal abuse. 14. Mistletoe and Holly: Overeating, folks stealing a kiss or two? How did this song ever see the light of day? 15. Winter Wonderland: Parson Brown demanding they get married…forced partnership.
Merry Christmas, Mark

Takes a LOT more than this and whatever pisses off liberals to even git me a teensy tiny bit upset. Course "them" complainin bout it WILL git me upset. They keep actin like someone urinated in their breakfast bowl or plate-well NOW-On 2nd thought-NO not even then. Saw it on the puter home page a school somewhere fired a teacher cuz she refused to use the nouns the transgender wanted her to use. More and more it appears as if the inmates are indeed taking over! Maybe if something or someone P Os you quit listening or move to where you can't hear them or mute the station or change channels! But THAT would be too easy and entail a coherent thought. RIDE SAFE.

But the song is now back as of today's news.
Just think of all those Ghetto songs sung and allowed? I don't listen to any of them, I don't need swearing and the like in my music.
Also the country song, when hoes where hoes, and coke was coke, etc, etc. Forget the title and author (never was good at remembering, I just listen and enjoy).

There hasn't been a scandle in many days. There has to be a complaint going on to insure the #me too women are in control.
We need limited "free speech" zones physical and on line for anger groups like me too, blm, LGBT, nazzi groups and others. Maybe an island somewhere would be good

Had a discussion with the wife and my brother regarding this mess with the sone and the boycott of it on the radio. Last night I came across this breakdown of it and the way things were when it was written.
teachingwithcoffee: It’s time to bring an end to the Rape Anthem Masquerading As Christmas Carol Hi there! Former English nerd/teacher here. Also a big fan of jazz of the 30s and 40s. So. Here’s the thing. Given a cursory glance and applying today’s worldview to the song, yes, you’re right, it absolutely *sounds* like a rape anthem. BUT! Let’s look closer! “Hey what’s in this drink” was a stock joke at the time, and the punchline was invariably that there’s actually pretty much nothing in the drink, not even a significant amount of alcohol. See, this woman is staying late, unchaperoned, at a dude’s house. In the 1940’s, that’s the kind of thing Good Girls aren’t supposed to do — and she wants people to think she’s a good girl. The woman in the song says outright, multiple times, that what other people will think of her staying is what she’s really concerned about: “the neighbors might think,” “my maiden aunt’s mind is vicious,” “there’s bound to be talk tomorrow.” But she’s having a really good time, and she wants to stay, and so she is excusing her uncharacteristically bold behavior (either to the guy or to herself) by blaming it on the drink — unaware that the drink is actually really weak, maybe not even alcoholic at all. That’s the joke. That is the standard joke that’s going on when a woman in media from the early-to-mid 20th century says “hey, what’s in this drink?” It is not a joke about how she’s drunk and about to be raped. It’s a joke about how she’s perfectly sober and about to have awesome consensual sex and use the drink for plausible deniability because she’s living in a society where women aren’t supposed to have sexual agency. Basically, the song only makes sense in the context of a society in which women are expected to reject men’s advances whether they actually want to or not, and therefore it’s normal and expected for a lady’s gentleman companion to pressure her despite her protests, because he knows she would have to say that whether or not she meant it, and if she really wants to stay she won’t be able to justify doing so unless he offers her an excuse other than “I’m staying because I want to.” (That’s the main theme of the man’s lines in the song, suggesting excuses she can use when people ask later why she spent the night at his house: it was so cold out, there were no cabs available, he simply insisted because he was concerned about my safety in such awful weather, it was perfectly innocent and definitely not about sex at all!) In this particular case, he’s pretty clearly right, because the woman has a voice, and she’s using it to give all the culturally-understood signals that she actually does want to stay but can’t say so. She states explicitly that she’s resisting because she’s supposed to, not because she wants to: “I ought to say no no no…” She states explicitly that she’s just putting up a token resistance so she’ll be able to claim later that she did what’s expected of a decent woman in this situation: “at least I’m gonna say that I tried.” And at the end of the song they’re singing together, in harmony, because they’re both on the same page and they have been all along. So it’s not actually a song about rape - in fact it’s a song about a woman finding a way to exercise sexual agency in a patriarchal society designed to stop her from doing so. But it’s also, at the same time, one of the best illustrations of rape culture that pop culture has ever produced. It’s a song about a society where women aren’t allowed to say yes…which happens to mean it’s also a society where women don’t have a clear and unambiguous way to say no. (Source: matchingvnecks)

Many Will Be Offended And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another (Matthew 24:10 KJV). The word translated offended is the Greek word skandalizo, from which we get the English word scandalize. The word means to put a stumbling block in someone’s path so they will fall; or to entice someone to sin, or fall away. It could also mean to cause a person to begin to distrust and desert one whom he ought to trust and obey.

So, the sense in which the KJV uses "offended", enticed to sin or fall away, is very different than the way "offended" is used in this thread, i.e. to take umbrage, thus this verse, in which most English versions of the Bible better translate for modern English readers as either "turn away" (NIV,NLT) or "fall away" (ESV,BSB,NASB,CSB,ISV), i.e. turn/fall away from the faith, is far less relevant to this thread than its use of "offended" might suggest.

Someone, somewhere needs to be offended today. It looks like there's plenty of it going on right here..... Only if one wants to be and dwells upon that in every aspect of their life. The song in question here and all the hubbub over its meaning is nothing short of ridiculous, including the content of the lengthy article posted above. It's nothing more than a little love song and the relationship of two people. There's no indication or insinuation of rape anywhere in the song unless the person listening to it is looking for it and has that subject uppermost in their mind in everything they do, say, or think. And if it's not direct, they'll twist it around in such a manner that it will take on a totally new meaning that supports their absurdity. The "me too" movement has become equally ridiculous. I have no problem with that group's original stand on issues, but those dingbats have now gone stupid by using it as a platform for being offended by anything and everything. They're not alone, it has permeated society to the point of pure lunacy and ignorance. I can't help but wonder......what's wrong with people nowadays? Are their lives so shallow and meaningless that all they can do if find fault. I went grocery shopping yesterday. While browsing the meat department, one elderly lady excused herself so as to reach in front of me for a package of hotdogs. Once in hand, she gave me a little smile and said "next thing you know, some stupid woman is going to say they need to remove these from view because they look like a man's penis." While we were standing there laughing over her remark, another gal looking to be in her 40's had overheard the remark and added to it by saying "in that case honey, where's the Italian sausage?" So the three of us stood there having a good chuckle at the expense of the maladjusted. We all agreed the sad part of it is that sooner or later someone with a room temperature IQ will probably try to pull it off.

I didn't take offense to your quote, just like I don't take offense when someone on the tech board posts terrible advice, but I point out its flaws and provide correct information so that someone who is clueless about mechanics doesn't see the bad advice and follow it unwittingly. It's not about my impressing you or anyone else with my supposed holiness, but about careless use and glaringly unsupportable interpretation of the Word of God, and my abhorrence with seeing it abused. Truth matters, and meanings of words matter. If someone wrote about putting WD-40 in their Valkyrie's crankcase, and I responded with, "I hope you meant 10W-40, and if not, you should drain that out and replace it with 10W-40 or some other recommended motor oil," would you accuse me of being holier-than-thou?

My take on this "baby its cold outside" thing is this. I grew up listening to 70s and 80s rock and heavy metal. For the most part they hid sexual innuendo in the lyrics. Made you think what they meant. Even some country was the same way. NOW rappers don't even try to hide it. It's blatant. I have heard some of that crap music. Why aren't the morons that are offended by a fifty year old song offended by that C-rap?

I think the ones whining about this song are well left of center. You know, the ones offended by everything. If so, their agenda is to be offended by the right, especially white conservative men they perceive as anti-"me too" groups and they see as rapists (kinda overlook their pet Bill and his ilk). The rappers are for the most part on the same side of the fence as they are.

Louisville station vows to play 'Baby, It's Cold Outside' on repeat As a growing number of listeners and radio stations say "no, no, no" to playing the Christmas tune "Baby, It's Cold Outside," some Louisville radio stations are saying "yes, yes, yes." Whether you like it or not, classic hits station WAKY-FM will play the Christmas tune on repeat beginning Sunday morning, said Chris Randolph, one of the station's disc jockeys. WAKY, on 103.5 and 100.1 FM, will spin different versions of the song over and over for several hours on Sunday, Randolph said. "Everyone just seems so sensitive to the lyrics of the song, and we just thought everybody should calm down," Randolph said. "These stations pulling the song, it's absolutely ludicrous." Rams

If you pay attention closely to how the man and woman's lines sorta overlap it kinda seems like many of the lines are meant to be thoughts not spoken aloud. Either way it's just a cute adult themed song that has been a Christmas regular for years until these rediculous snowflakes needed a contraversy to whine about.

Or the painfully direct............. Why don't we do it in the road?
Which in my opinion was made a song by the Beatles to prove people would by anything they produced, however crummy or ridiculous.
No, that was No. 9. I bought that double white album when it came out (and think both those tunes are on it). I think fully a third to half of that album is crap. I haven't played it at all since 1970 something. McCartney is an asshole, so I won't listen to any of his music anyway.

Maybe stealing the thread, but I've never heard anything (not that I listen too hard) bad about Sir John McCartney. I avoid (or at least in funding their career) Stalon and Jane Fonda, because of what they say/did, and can relate to your feelings to McC too. Back on thread, I don't know why, or what this person had issue with, with regards to the song, when there is so much crap music out there putting down women, to complain about instead. Put oh no, can't stop the blacks from doing that.

Sir John? I wonder if he's a distant relative of Sir James Paul MacCartney.
