with the mounting tab split in half on my 97 tourer alternator cover, is there any clever repair figured out by any of our valkyrie modification wizards ?  I'm sure there are several tricks figured out over the years.

The cover is ABS plastic. O N L Y  ABS black plastic glue will work. I use MEK for cleaning and in some cases bonding. MEK will dissolve the plastic , so be careful. If you have the old part , it can be glued on , but will not be as strong. MEK weld is better , but more difficult. Make sure the parts fit and you know the way it will go together.  Dab MEK on both pieces and put together wet. I clamp in place and let it sit for a day. It will be stronger than glue.
