I feel the same about the oil but I really don't remember the last oil change I'm sure it was well overdue! I installed new belts today and it started right up and burnt one of the belts. I suspect 24 years ago the belts were a little bigger then the current model with the same part number. I was clearly tight when installing it and it just didn't process that there is a break on the auger pulley and with the belt as tight as it was there was no way for it to slip so it just burnt up in seconds. I will try to find a belt 1" longer tomorrow morning I would really like to finish this before I go on vacation.
While I'm heading Florida I won't get to ride a bike but the good news is my mother bought almost the same Corvette as me so I will at least get to drive her car while I'm there
wow, burning a belt, must have been way too tight then I assume since new belt should not do that ever. Never burnt a belt, but snapped one once due to age long, long ago was time to replace. Am sort of surprised though that 40+ year old OEM belt is starting to fray a smidge on the edges, but still running decent the old blue Sears Homelite snowblower. Yah, I do not believe oil on items you use 2-3 times per year for 30 minutes each really breaks down that much just sitting inside, but moisture more so from sitting am sure does break the oil down some. Probably should change it has been a few years since ONLY takes like 20 ounces cheap insurance and easy to do. I know when my mother in law had the old snowblower, she wanted it changed EVERY single year even though when poured it out the next season before use it was like brand new clean after 2-3 uses tops is all all winter long.
