I have a lot more pictures some of which may be a bit more incriminating. Smiley

Terry,

An important question... to determine if the statute of limitations have run or not... That was a good band, too! Nothing like a squeeze-box and fiddle to get me animated, playing the spoons on a scrub-board, and feeling like a kid again... Dang, thanks for the memories!!!

Good morning Bruce.  I thought the picture might stir up a few more folks who were there and remembered but I suppose they have all moved on and don't watch the board any longer.  I have pictures of myself and Howard playing the spoons on the washboard too.  Grin  I thought that band was the best that Tim ever arranged also.  The date on the pics BTW was 2003.  I don't think that was the year that the tornado came through and took out the power though.  I remember hearing the sirens more than one year.

Can't speak for anyone else but based on the provided evidence, I sure wish I was!

I'd say 2004. In 2005 we had a big Alabama microwave going outside.

Soooo many good memories from those days and those Cheaha events! Tim and his team worked extra hard to make that a 'premier' event, and it showed in every way! I suppose I probably did miss one or two of those, but I truly don't recall... and I did intend to make them all! That and the PCB ride every year were my two favorite gatherings, and the two I did attend more than any others.

Met lots of folks I'd never have encountered otherwise, and got to know some folks in ways that never would have come up had it not been for those occasions... Of course, that can be said of any Valk gathering anywhere, but... still... At any rate, I do miss those good times, amazing surprises, and bodacious laughs, and especially the deeper connections with really good people... Ahhhh, the good ol' days...

Thanks for bringing back all the wonderful recollections, Terry! You and Iris were part of the reason I enjoyed those so much!!!

P.S. Wayne Smith, 'winghot', provided the 'yard bird' a couple of years, as he was one of the many folks who stepped up to help Tim make this such a 'must attend' Valk celebration of life! Scott also got into the spirit of volunteerism, too!

Nope, Rhonda and I had no problems other than it was the first time I ever had pee that burned like fire. Ate the hot wings and got the Tshirt to prove it!

Yeah, Big Al surely met his match at the hot sauce eating contest! He and SmokinJoe made the ride down the mountain in an ambulance and back up in a taxi that fateful night... What most don't know is that Al got a chance to do something noble the following morning.

Punisher and Sweet Tea had arrived in a tow truck the evening before, having left his Valk at a bike shop in Talladega for a rear tire replacement. I was going to give Allan a ride back down the mountain to retrieve his scoot, and Lisa was going to hang around up top and await his return. Then we spotted Big Al loading his bike for the return trip home... He'd had enough!

When I asked if he'd like to give a fair damsel a ride to Talladega, he suddenly recovered and perked right up! So, I road Allan, and he is a huge guy, while Lisa crawled on the pillion seat of Al's ride.. and off we went! That was an adventure itself, but my typing finger is growing weary, so that will have to wait... sorry. And, no pictures, I'm afraid, and I'm really sorry about that... I just know that was a sight to behold for sure!!!
