My M.A.'s husband got some 30% off a new 2018 one here in Dallas this weekend--she said they had so many to sell.....I'm sure our trade-in value is ...not too good...$285 to repair the choke cable at the dealer in Rockwall on the 17 y.o. Valk.. the 1st thing to go and wear out on it probably because I never lubed it ..why trade it in?

After I lubed my choke cable, it wouldn't stay on, I have to hold it on. It has "stayed lubed" for years and only now has it begun to kind of stay...

Or....get rid of the lousy piece of engineering and make this installation. Direct action, trouble free, stays put. And you never have to question whether you are actually engaging the choke. Under construction. Operational. PS: It did't cost $285 either, more like an hour of my time and less than $20 for SS parts.

You guys are making me feel bad for John. Poor guy is just trying to enjoy retirement and take care of Rita. And you guys are trying to put his ass to work. (I'll take one too, John)

Wow, nine orders with no advertising on my part. Right about now I sure could use an extra $1k plus. Surely you didn't think I'd do it for less than $100+ per set....did you? If I could find someone to laser cut the main piece for me I'd probably do it, cutting a handful at a time would be easy then. Next is sourcing the SS metal flat stock, not cheap....at least the good stuff isn't. If I were to do something like this on a large scale, I'd buy a couple sets of p/n 16121-MZO-000, put together a kit and ship it. When the buyer returned their old one I'd refund the cost of the one I sent...about $15. I might do some checking on sources for SS in the not too distant future, will have to chat with admin about it if I decide to follow through. Don't hold your breath, my time isn't necessarily my own at the moment.

Pappy, just don't forget the "m" in that name, my reputation is already questionable at best.

Sounds like a good business opp! This said I never use my choke it simply doesn't seem to need it. I tried is once when I had a fuel issue but it didn't help.

When the buyer returned their old one I'd refund the cost of the one I sent...about $15. My impressions on this are, core exchanges are tricky. If you don't make the core price high enough, folks won't bother to return it to recover the $$. $15 isn't enough for that reason IMHO. But if you make it too high, you won't get the sale in the first place. If you don't get the core return then you have sourcing issues with the core OEM part. I guess providing an easy return pkg can help - like a label and they can reuse your box. But the label costs $ if it's a USPO one even if it's not used - not so with Fedex ground but they are more cost than USPO for small pkgs. Maybe put the cost of the USPO return label in their total so they pay for it and it's their loss if they don't use it. Lotsa methods, figure out which works is a challenge. Ah the joys of merchandising...

The only thing I'd consider crediting back would be item #20 on the carb ass'y.(called "starter, lever"). They run a bit under $30 for a set of two....one for each side but I only need one for the kit. I would only buy a couple new ones at first and use the returns from those to make up additional kits. It's still something I'm debating, but looking at it like I did when going after an M.Ed.. I had so many other things going on at the time, not to mention 4 daughters and a career, I decided after much thought, money, and classroom time that it had become less of an enjoyment(the learning process) than it had originally been. I don't want to take that chance on this so might not pursue it although it might be kinda fun(?) if not educational.

John , I have a water jet cutting company I use. Look around by you or contact me to help. I have them do the trailer hitches. I paid for the initial set up and he has it on a disc. There is no more set up charge.
