This got me to thinking. With the advent of the "jailbroken" Firestick, or other streaming devices, one could watch (stream) all they want of the hollyweird product and not give them a dime. Not saying I condone such action, but it's an option for those who don't want to monetarily support them. I don't do it myself, since I hardly watch tv anymore and don't want to go to the trouble of getting a new device and updating it. But it's legal, since you are not downloading the movie. I have heard that they even have movies on there that are still in theaters, but the picture quality is crappy.

When I git back to my Casa I'll have my friendly neighborhood tech geek give me an update on that. Da prez and his neighbor and I went on 27 Dec to see They Shall Not Grow Old. At $12.50 a head ain't gonna do much flicker house observing. RIDE SAFE.

The last movie that I watched in a theater was "Open Range" in 2003 and that was because the lady with me had free tickets. The movie before that was "Tora, Tora, Tora' in 1970. Only two movie theater visits in 49 years and I'm happy with that.
Remembering that I paid 10 cents to watch movies as a kid with five cents popcorn, I won't be watching any theater movies. I don't like stadium seating and the loud audio, plus the wimpy, false, stuck on themselves actors and actresses in Hollywood turn me off.
The same go for the extravagances of Hollywood 'special events" on Tv. Puke.

I guess I'm not paying to let it in my house, even though I have cable, because I don't let ANY of those award shows in the house. Or the "Real somethings of Anything" or "Big Brother's Survival Patio" etc.
Looks like the op isn't wrong though, the Globe's ratings went down yet again this year;
NEW YORK (AP) Preliminary figures from Nielsen show that Sunday night's Golden Globes were watched by 18.6 million viewers, a slight drop from the 19.1 million that tuned in last year.
The NBC broadcast dipped despite an enviable lead-in from the nail-biter NFL Wild Card game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Chicago Bears. This year's nominees also featured a number of hit films, including "Black Panther" and "A Star Is Born." The night's best drama picture winner, "Bohemian Rhapsody," has made $743.1 million worldwide.
Hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg, the 76th Globes at least stopped recent dramatic ratings skids for awards shows like the Oscars and Grammys. Last year's Globes fell 5 percent and 11 percent among those aged 18-49. This time, viewership in that key demographic increased four percent.

Hollywood awards ceremonies are group reach-arounds, where they all wear expensive clothes and jewelry and smile their bonded teeth. And the TV and print media eat it up and broadcast it widely.
They ought to have them on the Titanic. (I might actually watch that one).

I work with a guy that went to an interview to be on "naked and afraid" at the end of the 3 hour interview they told him he did not qualify to be on the show. Reason: he knew too much about survival and they wanted people that could potentially get sick or die for ratings. All of these show are fake. I dont watch any reality TV including these over rated award shows. Cartoons are on the TV most the time at my house.

I dont watch any reality TV including these over rated award shows. Cartoons are on the TV most the time at my house. Earlier this century I found a Canadian production company that had 72 reality shows either on TV or in production. Shows for the US market. That was when I decided to stop paying for cable/satellite TV and the crap they supplied. If you now take a look at the laughingly called History channel schedule https://www.history.com/scheduleIf you take a look at Nat Geo https://www.nationalgeographic.com/tv/If you take a look at HGTV https://www.hgtv.com/shows/tv-scheduleIf you take a look at TLC (The Learning Channel - what a joke that is) https://www.tlc.com/scheduleIf you take a look at the Discovery channel https://tonights.tv/channel/discovery-channel/Etc etc etc It's mainly reality TV crap that cable/satellite TV's are making money on. You can brainwash a lot of people quite easily.

Sure are a lot of people paying a lot of attention to something they don't watch or care about. LOLOL....exactly..... I don't watch but I want to know which celebrity is the next to put their foot in their mouth. I will never understand how a celebrity can alienate half their fan base by trashing the president. Every time one says something derogatory towards the president just adds to the list of overpaid primadonna's I will NEVER pay to see their movies or shows. You see I will ALWAYS need doctors,firemen,police officers and the military. I will NEVER need celebrities or sports players. I don't NEED to be entertained.......
