If I were accused of a serious crime I didn't commit, a grand jury investigated all possible details the crime could have been committed, dug into my personal life, my finances, my family, my family's finances, my family's personal details, my friends personal lives, their business dealings, their friends personal details, my business associates, their friends, their finances, etc. etc. etc I really wouldn't want to see all that information be published.

The intimate details of a grand jury or similar investigation are really no one's business, and publishing said info would likely make people less willing to cooperate with such an institution in the future, knowing everything they say or hand over will one day end up on the front page of the New York Times, even if they're never charged with a crime.

I understand that Grand Jury info and national security info and classified info will not be revealed. That's appropriate for the public. I still want to see the rest for myself. The gang of eight can see the entirety.

Got a link ? Everything I've read stated they had him on tape talking to the Russians and when they interviewed him, they were stunned with his false statements.

They already knew the answers, so they could not have been stunned.

Alan Dershowitz: Did Michael Flynn lie? Or did the FBI act improperly?

https://thehill.com/opinion/judiciary/421634-alan-dershowitz-did-michael-flynn-lie-or-did-the-fbi-act-improperly

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/12/1/16724742/michael-flynn-plead-guilty-lied-fbi

Prosecutors say Flynn lied to the FBI when asked if he had asked the Russian ambassador to help constrain Russia’s response to President Barack Obama’s retaliation against Russia for its interference in the 2016 election, where he expelled suspected intelligence agents and shuttered two Russian diplomatic compounds in the US. Flynn also claimed not to remember Kislyak’s reply where he said Russia would, in fact “not take retaliatory measures” at that time.

Perhaps the biggest revelation from this charge: Flynn, according to prosecutors, reported back to an unidentified “senior official with the Presidential Transition Team” about his discussion with Kislyak.

The second conversation prosecutors say Flynn lied about involved a United Nations Security Council Resolution condemning Israeli settlements. According to prosecutors, a senior member of Trump’s transition team instructed Flynn to contact foreign officials, including Russia, to pressure them to vote against the resolution. Flynn, in his interview with the FBI, claimed he only asked their positions, and that he did not remember Russia’s response.

The third charge against Flynn says he misrepresented the extent of his work on behalf of the Turkish government through his firm, the Flynn Intel Group.

Anyone interested in the whole break down of the Russian collusion and who the players are and even what are their relationship to each other is covered in this great video by Dan Bongino and he has written a book on the subject also.

They had Flynn lying about it. They had Trump Jr. lying about it. They had Papadopolous lying about it. They had Manafort lying about it. Just that right there should be more than enough to start the investigation.

Lying about what?

Some made untrue statements to investigators, and paid the price.

But none of the untrue statements (or the actual truth) showed any collusion with Russians.

Indeed no one, no US citizen, is shown by the Mueller investigation to have colluded with Russians.

Russians made attempts to get cooperation, and there is no evidence they succeeded, with anyone.

The Muller investigation was not (supposed to be about) about catching liars in general.

And this, after 675 days and more than 2,800 subpoenas and executing nearly 500 search warrants, and some 850 pages of report.  And somewhere in the neighborhood of 8500 donkey sucking fake news reports on the subject.

There is a strong belief (and evidence) that Mueller (and company) made a point of going somewhat beyond the scope of his assigned investigation to trip up some folks on untrue statements (and other offenses unrelated to Russian collusion to influence an election), so they could at least get some skin in the game.  (prosecutions) (I'm talking Americans, not the multiple foreign indictments)

There was no collusion, and no obstruction.  (loudly and repeatedly saying the Mueller investigation sucks in public is not obstruction of justice) (Neither was firing Comey, he earned that all on his own.)

You know why the President was not asked or subpoenaed to testify?  Because they had no evidence of any crime he committed to ask him about, that's why.  (collusion, obstruction or otherwise)

I didn't say there was collusion. I was giving the rationale why there was the investigation . Moonshot stated there was no reason for there being an investigation. When numerous members of your Cabinet and team lie about meetings with Russians that is a pretty big red flag, and reason for the investigation. Especially when you know what the Russians are trying to do.

I am not a political person, so I have to ask this.  If you discovered Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort had meetings with Russians, wouldn't you want to know what they were doing in there?

The mere stating of the need to know implies a belief of some kind of guilt.  People in business, big business, meet with people from other countries.  We are not isolated.  It's not against the law unless they are plotting with another country's people to influence a U.S. election.  That in itself is a bit hypocritical given how much The U.S. government works to influence or manipulate elections ion other countries.

It would make more sense for people from the other side to want to know what President Obama (an already in office Executive) meant when telling the Russian president that he could be more flexible after the election.   Shocked

Meathead, the Mueller group was specifically tasked with investigating claims of collusion by the Trump campaign with the Russians.  One cannot reasonably assume they would have investigated any goings on with the Clinton or any other campaign.

They did try to get the president, but were going to use the same tactic on trump that they used on Flynn. The tactic that got Flynn is, to get someone to testify, compare the testimony to what they already have and then charge them with lying if there are any statements that contradict what they know. So the charges dont come from the case but from perjury for lying to the prosecutors.

Basically what Jess said just a bit different.

A stopped clock is right twice a day so there is still a chance for you too.

Six different Congressional Commitee Chairmen signed a letter yesterday demanding the complete Mueller Report by 2 April.    I have no doubt this is far from over.   The Dem leadership (and many of their followers) have more than egg on their faces.    My bet is, they will find other things to exaggerate into some new allegation/accusation to try and save face and promote further hate for President Trump.

Their fear is that this could backfire on them if Mueller's report doesn't provide them with something substantial.    I have no idea what else may be in the report but, this I am sure of, the Dem clock will be right at least twice that day, just like that broken clock.

None of us have led perfect lives and always followed a perfect path.   Just be thankful we are not the focus of Congressional Democrats (or their followers).    That could get very ugly.  Wink

Apparently you had lost track of what you said.  Your reply makes no sense in regard to what I was addressing.  You said you were sure that Mueller had looked into possible collusion by Hillary Clinton.  I pointed out that I am sure they didn't as it was outside the scope of what they had been tasked to investigate.

Below is your quote:

Conspiring to taint the election could take many other forms than the examples you provided. Example : if Hillary Clinton’s aides had met with Yugoslavians to get stolen emails on Trump’s extramarital affairs, and had then used that to suppress his vote, that would be against the law. If she had promised lessened sanctions on the Yugoslavians in exchange for that, that would be an additional broken law. I’m sure Mueller looked into something such as this and didn’t find evidence.

Apparently my command of the English language is better than yours.  "Something such as this"  includes the example and other cases like the example.  Even if it means what you (deceptively) claim you meant it did it would be incorrect due to the limits of Mueller's (note the apostrophe) limitations.

Too often we're experiencing something false or incorrect being posted or said and then excused by "that's not what I meant."  You would grow significantly in your worthiness of respect were you to be driven more by your intellect and less by your hatred.

As a 66 year old man who has spent the majority of his waking hours for the last 3 years with two boys who have progressed from infancy to full time rug rats I feel right at home on this message board.

You would grow significantly in your worthiness of respect were you to be driven more by your intellect and less by your hatred.

Please don't bother challenging my command of the English language.   Wink

Baldo, I think you mistake "importance" when it's really confidence.

Yes, there's a bit of that, too... Wink

Do I need to remind you Bob and also Rob that you don't poke a bear. Carl could with a couple of key strokes ban you both from the board. Not saying he would, just saying he could. Doing it to the rest of us is fine because we don't control the board but keep it up and you just mght find yourself looking in from the outside.

Well aware, Mark. But I think he's better than that... Wink

He's a better man than I.  I would swing that ban-hammer with the authority of Thor.
But, that's just me.

It is very important to me to be honest without exception.  I don't practice false humility.  I would consider that deceitful.

I do speak (and type) with a significant amount of confidence.  It's really not common for me to question myself (but then I didn't guarantee a Hillary Clinton victory in the past presidential election).  I'm not certain from where you drew your assessment of self importance.  That's consistent as it's not unusual for me to be unsure as to from where your assessments were drawn.
