So what is so great about the "Harley hub laced to a Honda rim"?

Bigger tire on a wider rim.

Mostly saw that on a chop. Easiest way to get a fat tire there, and you gotta have a fat tire on the back of your choppa. Plus a little better ride on a hard tail.

That's sweet. Drag Specialties had a Big Twin rear that would hold a Corvair tire, and one local guy opened up his CB750 aftermarket frame and used a jackshaft to get the chain out to where it lined up with where the rear sprocket hung out.

I have truthfully lost count of how many SOHC bikes I cut up in the 80's, when I walked past a parked one it would often shake and pee itself in fear  Roll Eyes
Here's 3 of them counting my blue chop.

Pretty sure I still have a bare frame or two, "back in the day" they were so plentiful you could only get $50 tops for a titled neck. More than that, and guys would just buy a whole bike with a clean title and a stuck/busted engine. Cheap quality JCWhitney chains punched out a lot of early engine castings just forward of the front sprocket. First place to look when considering buying a used one. It'd punch a small piece into the case and the tranny gears would get trashed.

I'm working on a '77 GL1000 as we speak, having finished my 1980 CB900C.  Pics coming!
