A donkey named Jack lives down the road from me.

I stop to see him and feed him a couple of carrots 4 or 5 days a week.  He's very gentle when taking the carrots. He's a sweet old boy.

Owned by an elderly couple.

Do these hooves look as if they need trimming?

We had two great fellows, Dan and Julio, for close to 20 years; they were delightful gentlemen whose personalities outweighed those of many humans that we've known.  Lost them both about four years ago and their absences are still noted.

We believe that his hooves are not in critical need of trimming, but could use a bit off to make him most comfortable.
Hope his easy disposition lends him to behave for a farrier's attention (some farriers do not enjoy dealing with burros), as some of them just hate to have their feet handled and are a bit fiesty. Angry

Shouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes...if Jack approves.  You could help by standing at his head and offering him an alfalfa biscuit or two during the trimming; that would make Jack a happy camper.

I showed the photos to a local farrier and he said all is good for the moment.

Paul, I'm sure Jack would rather be fed fresh carrots and have his ears rubbed, than have his feet chopped and filed on on.

I know I would.   Grin

He was in a trance yesterday as I gently rubbed inside and outside of his ears.

It's unusual to see that many lawyers away from a court room or bar.   Wink

I have 3 mini donkeys and those hoofs look fine. In the winter months the hoofs grow slower. If they get real long they start looking like elf shoes.
