I repeat. ridiculous!  You know, just like everyone, there is always disagreement

As far as other songs going back that were "racist" by today's meaning, you won't pin that on me either.

i served in the military.  I had no problem with blacks or others. We were all in the same boat......equal!

In fact when I rotated home I gave my Old Spice facial powder to my replacement .  The next morning he had used it on his face. He was black, black.  I didn't see him as black and I think that he knew what he was doing when he used it.

Don't you ever try to pin a unjust label on me, Meathead.

BTW, what kind of oil do you use in your Valk?
BTW Wayne, I did not label you. Those songs weren’t racist by today’s meaning. They were racist by the standards of that time also. It’s just that a majority of people were ok with it.

(My oil has been blessed by the Pope) joke

PAUL ROBESON
That's Why Darkies Were Born Lyrics

Someone had to pick the cotton,
Someone had to pick the corn,
Someone had to slave and be able to sing,
That's why darkies were born;

Someone had to laugh at trouble,
Though he was tired and worn,
Had to be contented with any old thing,
That's why darkies were born;

Sing, sing, sing when you're weary and
Sing when you're blue,
Sing, sing, that's what you taught
All the white folks to do;

Someone had to fight the Devil,
Shout about Gabriel's Horn,
Someone had to stoke the train
That would bring God's children to green pastures,
That's why darkies were born.

and him and Kate sung the song together on broadway.  so I guess he is racist also, no wait he became a communist so he's ok.

so who is paying these people every day to research possible racist songs from the 1930s?

So when will we be removing the faces of the presidents who owned slaves off of our currency??

The past is the past, you can only change moving forward. If you continue to relive things or life in the past you certainly cant make the future better. It happened, it is over and done with. If you continue to pick the scab, you will leave a scar. I am sure if Kate Smith were still alive, should would give an apology and would have moved on. But there are people that are offended and will be for the rest of their lives.

Case in point...Kevin Hart...he made some comments as a comedian...he tells jokes for a living...quick cheap laughs....offensive, sure to some. He made apologies...just not good enough...and since his comedy is on the cloud now, new people will be offended and demand apologies...

Hanoi Jane has been forgiven by some...is there a difference???

My question is, when does it stop?

I have always liked Andrew Jackson, he should stay on the twenty.  A Scots-Irish Presbyterian (like me).

He owned slaves, he was argumentative and fought duels (103, before president), he eradicated Indians, he hated the British after being imprisoned in a revolutionary war prison ship (the only president to be a POW) (and killed as many as he could), he was the hero of New Orleans (one of the most lopsided victories in all of military history), he was the first president to have an assassination attempt against him (two pistols misfired, and he beat the man with his cane), a member of both houses, and the President (and expanded the country and fostered Jacksonian Democracy).

By today's standards he was a terrible man.  But in his day, he was just what the country needed.

I especially like that his statue faces the White House main portico (with cannon), serving as a constant reminder to all sitting presidents to serve their country faithfully (or he may kick their ass).  I spent 18 years working a three minute walk from there, and visited him often.

I often waived at Bill Clinton's rooftop snipers, but they never waved back.

               When does it stop? NEVER in our lifetime. Cuz the small minded easily offended will ALWAYS dredge something up to be pissed about. These be the same folks that need quiet rooms and cuddly toys and soothing words and pacifiers!  2funny They will keep on finding things to keep the butt hurt rollin fer themselves. RIDE SAFE.

Only for LGBTQ+...they just added a “+” to the abbreviation for whatever that means.

The nacp covers the statue of George Washington when they have
rallies at our state house. Snopes says this is only partially true,
since they asked one of the nacp guys and he said, “We weren’t
trying to obstruct anything.”
