That guy is a character....now I have to see all his stuff.....lol

He is riding through New Zealand ATM and I just watched his first 2 videos of his ride here, not quite sure weather to call him a character or a dick head (much respect for his trip though)

going through his recent videos it looks like he has done plenty of wet miles lately and full credit to them to keep the long days riding in those conditions.... Not that I dont ride in rain and hail....I just don't do it in an open face helmet

That Kiwi is definitely a character ! Kind of funny that he finally put some gloves on after the rain and hail. I hope they don't try the gravel road from Cantwell to Paxson. They call it the Denali Hiway, but it is a washboard 140 miles of gravel.

I live in Rural Illinois, where the roads are sometimes glazed rock and tar, and at other times they merely dump loose gravel. 
I despise them like that.  Especially on my "new" valk.  I could handle it easier on a smaller sportier (lighter!) bike, but Eir and Rocks don't mix, as cookiedough said, it makes my bike a bit squirrely.

Give me asphalt and chop down the speedlimit signs.

  This post has been around awhile but, I never bothered to read it. Gravel road riding does not and so I thought would not apply to me. Silly me  . Yesterday I traveled Northeast of me to a town called Parkman. Amish gent that is gonna side the house and such, I neglected to send him the signed contract in a timely fashion. Still trying to pick out colors with the wife  . Whole other story. So I figure this is a chance to take care of biz and get a nice little Saturday evening ride in. It was great until I got to the gravel road he lives on  ???. I have zero desire to ride gravel roads but, now I have no choice. So I creep down the road in 1st gear sweating bullets that I'm gonna dump it. Finally after about 800 yards or so, I find his address  . Low and behold, I now have a 150 or so yards of 57 limestone to navigate to get to his house! I did not want to take the liberty in driving on his grass. Fortunately the buggy ruts were packed fairly well and this stretch wasn't too bad. Took care of business and headed back, slowly. What a PIA. No desire at this point in my life to navigate gravel roads, constantly tense. On the bright side, probably a great way to learn to look ahead while riding. Sure do not want any surprise stops.
