My heart aches for your loss.  No person reading your messages could doubt your eternal love for Rita or doubt she will always be part of you.

I'm going to give my wife an extra hug in honor of Rita and you tonight. No one is promised a tomorrow but we have so many in a life time, I tend to take them for granted.

She is thankful for your devotion and love.
In the hardest times they might not be able to say, but you know they mean.
There will be a time when you two are together again.
Never doubt you are the best. Ever.

My prayers go out to you John for your continued strength, comfort and support from the Lord. I wish I could handle lifes ups and downs the way you have been able to, you have been a rock and model of grace under pressure.

I had a close friend tell me that his wife was his only drug of choice.
And when she passed he had to try to kick the habit cold turkey.
Well just like recovering from a drug habit it is a day by day  thing.
He told me at the end of each day  he would say to himself,  Well I made it
through another one. When I lost my 2nd wife I found what he said to me to be true.
I am lucky though I found another and life goes on for me.
It will for you also,a day at a time my friend.

Shortleg, that's a great analogy re. drug of choice, that's exactly what my wife was for me. She depended on me for 100% of her care over the last few years, and I depended on her for her love. My love for her was boundless, but I was finding that at age 81....my strength wasn't. I told her many times that as long as I was physically able I would never put her in a nursing home. I'm proud to say I was able to keep that promise to the end, often at the risk of my own health. I'm glad you found another and I wish you continued joy and happiness. As for me, at age 81 I'm not interested in another partner, I don't ever want to go through this again.  :'(

John, I haven't been on here for several days and now find this news. So very sorry to learn about Rita. I hope you're doing as well as can be expected.  Take care, be safe, and when you travel if you're in E Tennessee please yell.

Thinking about you Buddy.

Charlie, most certainly will do that. And if you're ever back down here....same thing goes for me. I do miss seeing my old friends from the club that I've known for many years. I plan to correct that over the next couple years.  :cooldude:

So sorry to hear this John.  I lost my dear mother at age 82 back in March and I am still not over it.  I don't think we ever do, but the one day at a time is a good plan.
God bless you and keep you.

i haven't been here in several days as well. so sorry for your loss. you have my utmost respect for caring for her for so long.
my wife fell ill on mothers day and progressively got worse thru the week. caring for her 24 hrs a day, 3 trips to the ER, 2 trips to doctor offices, and i'm whipped.
your courage, caring and attitude about your situation is certainly something to be admired.
