Got home safely. Picked up 5 carrots to feed to my donkey friend, Jack, who live on Warwoman Rd. on the way to Clayton.

It's a 35 mph reducing to 25 mph right by the gate to Jacks field. And the road curves to the left.

I activate my right turn signal and use my right turn hand signal so the pickup truck behind me can see I'm going to turn right into Pinnacle Drive.

That's where I park my bike when going to see Jack.

I turn and then make a U turn immediately to park.

As I'm coming to a full stop I see the pickup truck has it's left turn signal on and is moving across the road to a clear area by Jacks field. He's just across the center line when at the same time a BMW bike ALSO with it's left turn signal activated tries to pass the pick up and smashes into the left front wing of the pick up which of course is still moving to the left.

The bike and rider slam down to the left and slide across the grass and luckily the rider doesn't go into the wire fence.

Warwoman isn't a busy road but right as this happened there was a car behind the bike. One approaching from Clayton and another coming down Yunai Circle.

Everyone is calling 911 by the time I'm off my bike and have taken my helmet and gloves off. The pick up driver and his girlfriend are with the bike rider who is in pain but no blood.

I ask how to turn off the bike. Engine is dead but it's still turned on. The bike is laying tank down a slight slope so there's no way I can pick it up. Jack is at the fence very excited .

I tell the rider to just lay down and don't move.

Cops arrive very quickly and then ambulances right behind.

I go to get Jack over to the gate and calmed down with carrots.

Rider is up and ambulatory being checked by medics.

Pick up driver looks very shaken.

I tell the Officer what I saw which matches what the pick up driver has told him.

Who knows what the rider was thinking?????

Lost focus, day dreaming? It's not possible to see clearly through the bend to make a passing move and the speed reduces from 35 to 25 at that point. There are trees right along Norton Creek and any view gaps would be blocked by tall weeds and grass.

Rider was only wearing a sweat shirt. Brain bucket and no gloves. The grass slide saved him. Otherwise he would have been BADLY road rashed .

Bike looked FUBAR'ed.

Four or five years ago, three of us were on a ride north somewhere.  We are traveling through a semi rural area, an old no longer open gas station on the right hand side of the road ahead, several houses on large lots (acres) on the left as we travel north.

We are riding staggered formation.  We all have CBs.  I am in front, and ready to make a left hand turn on a slight bend on the road.  Visibility is ok, it just s slight bend to the right.

I turn on my left turn signal and stick out my hand so all the riders know we are about to turn.  The road has a double yellow line, no passing from either direction.  There are no on coming cars in the south bound lane.  As I cross the center line staring the turn, maybe going 35 mph (don't remember) I hear Henry who is riding trial say, via CB, "WATCH OUT! WATCH OUT!".  I stop turning and begin to merge back into the right hand land as a large SUV roars past in the left hand lane, crosses the intersection and ends up in the front yard of the house across the road I was about to turn onto.

Without the CB, and Henry being as attentive as he was I would not be here today.

The SUV stopped in the yard and I pulled into the old gas station and took a break.  The other rider with us, Billy, when up to the SUV to see if they were all right.  They were ok, no injuries so, we left them there, turned left ono our intended road and "rode on".

I am sure the SUV driver was just in attentive and probably started passing us before I made the signal but.....   It was a near thing.

We had one of those last year.

Car turning left from 35 to 25 (into my subdivision), signal on and slowing to turn.

Probable high speed overtaking crotch rocket (coming up behind truck) thinks he can pass ahead of the turning truck.

He can't.  He hit truck and fly through air to a sudden stop.  He dead.

Speeding or speed too fast for conditions on road, passing in an intersection or across a double yellow, failure to stop within assured clear distance (ahead).

Another one not actually on the books..... Superman Complex.  (or aggressive driving)

Confucius say: man who ride motorcycle with superman complex often bend motorcycle,  and body.
