Brake Lights Stay On
Rider89:
Its a new issue a day with my I/S now.
My brake lights (I have the ones in the trunk, one on the rear fender and 2 mounted in my bags (operate as brake/turn signals).
They're on all the time.
I removed the front brake lever to get to the switch, but couldn't find where to adjust, so I cleaned the contacts and removed the rear brake switch, but it can only be adusted and even when fully disconnected from the rear brake pedal the lights stay on.
I haven't done anything new with the exception of removing the radio unit.
Is a short possible?
I've checked my fuses and they're all good.
All 4 brake lights (trunk, 2 bags and fender are run off the main wire with the trunk spliced in for quick disconnect.
Any ideas?
I'll trace each wire later tonight after work, but as of now I'm stuck.
bentwrench:
did you unplug both frt. and rear switches?
bw
Rider89:
I unplugged the front switches.
Im unable to locate teh 2 pin yellow connector that the service manual references as the rear brake switch...yet.
John U.:
Sounds like it could be a short crossing up the running lights and brake light circuits, or a connector is crosswired.
Six Packer:
Have you checked the adjustment on your foot brake pedal? Behind the brake swingarm is an adjustment bolt that will allow the arm to swing more and disengage your brake light switch. Had the same trouble last year.
