Actually, everyone that I know from Michigan might sound like a Yankee but they don't act like one.

Michigan supplied almost 100,000 union troops during the war between the States.  That amounted to about 25% of the male population.

Just an observation, but a large percentage of the Southern population today are descended from northerners who migrated south.

I didn't say that they weren't Yankees.

I said that the ones I had met didn't "ACT" like Yankees.  

It is likely that very few of Michigan's population are Southerners who migrated north.  I'm pretty sure Michiganders are Yankees.    

Not sure of the #'s but I had an uncle that moved from VA to Michigan in the 50's to work for the auto industry.

He had quite a few friends there that had done the same.

Got to see Joe's new place here in God's Country yesterday it's nice. Got in a great ride through the mountains of east Tennessee after checking out new crib
