Bit of maintence
Robert:
Changed the front brakes, tire, cleaned the bike and an oil change, good as new. :cooldude:
Oil is Mobil One filter is Purolator
front tire is MICHELIN ROAD 6
And front brakes are EBC
This bike really feels good now.
ledany:
Robert, did you ever tried the Brembo or sinter TRW Lucas brake pads ? The brakes on the Valk are not that amazing and may need the best pads there is ;)
Jack B:
How many miles on the brakes?
Robert:
Always used OEM pads and never changed brand till now. I caught the pads before there was much meat left on them and was impatient and in the mood to do maintenance, since I had the time.
So went with EBC sintered and have on hand another set of no name made in the USA sintered pads ready. So far I'm not to impressed with the EBC either but maybe after break in will do better.
Sixity N6 Front Sintered Brake Pads compatible with Honda GL1800 Valkyrie 2014 are the other brand and at 33.$ for the set compared to 71. for the EBC I figured I would give them a try. Since it only takes 15 minutes to change front pads on the Valk.
I have changed the front pads a couple of times already. Not to hard on the brakes though.
If I had to guess on mileage, I would say 10k, maybe 15 since this is like the third front tire.
Ledany Sorry we don't exchange maintenance tips on brakes with guys to are traitors and go to the Wing. Especially ones who crash their Valks to get rid of them. :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:
Hows the new Bike??????????
I heard things are getting kind of interesting in Paris as of late. Every time I see a picture or news feed I look for your bike.
ledany:
Ha ha Robert, I did't mean to crash my Valk, a recent widow wanted me to rejoin her late husband !
The Bagger DCT is more modern of course (I don't know where the oil filter is, I'll have to check in the user manual) : DCT, GPS, Sync brakes, electric shield, heated grips, smoother rear shock absorber, better headlight/beam, better mpg but the side cases are useless and after 6,000 km I'm still not that confident in U-turns and handling at very low speed. The fact is that the bagger is less powerful than the Valk (100 mls/h and you keep waiting for more to come that doesn't).
I was not in Paris lately during the joyful events you saw on TV, I wanted to keep pristine the legendary Parisian bad mood ! :2funny:
But Robert I insist : you should give the Brembo/TWR Lucas pads a try. Of course, the rotors feel the difference and I had to change the rotors after 100,000 km but it's so easy to do it and the comfort of a more decent breaking is priceless. 8)
