Solid metal on metal clunk in engine

(1/1)

Harleynomo:
Good afternoon guys! I went to ride my 1999 Interstate yesterday and when I hit the starter there was a solid clunk that sounded pretty heavy duty. There was nothing unusual about the ride I took couple days ago, there is plenty of new oil on the dip stick. I’m thinking possibly a timing belt issue but I would sure like to hear y’all’s opinion. Btw…35,000 miles on her. Thanks in advance!

Skinhead:
Sounds like hydrolock.

HayHauler:
+1 on the hydrolock.  Pull the plugs and roll it outside. Then, crank it over and see if fuel shoots out of the spark plug holes.

DO NOT TRY AND START IT WITH UNTIL YOU PULL THE PLUGS AND GET THE FUEL OUT OF THE CYLINDERS.

There are plenty of posts on this board talking about hydrolock.
