Valkyrie wont idle
(1/1)

OK I replaced 4 of 6 vaccuum hoses that go from the manifold to each carb bowl. :cooldude: The hoses were completely split and off the nipple on the carb bowl.
Now the bike wont idle. :tickedoff: It runs great if I give it just a slight twist of the right grip. I put Seafoam in it and rode about 50 miles. It backfired a couple of times when gearing down coming to a stop. Still no help.
I then tried to adjust the throttle cable. No help there. Made very marginal difference. I turned the adjustment several turns ( about 6 ot 8 threads).
Anyone have any ideas??? Thanks in advance
Ride safe

The way you worded that it sounds like you connected the vacuum lines from the chrome intake tubes to your float bowl drain outlets.
I'm mistaken aren't I?

Can you think of a reason where 6 hoses would be split and cracked and the other 2 would still look brand new? More likely that the other 2 are less visably split but also have cracks and leaks. Firstly, replace the other hoses.
Then check to make sure you're hooked to the correct part of the petcock.
How many turns of the idle adjustment? 6 to 8 threads? I've never turned mine more than one or two clicks in either direction. I have to set it up and down in the winter and summer a little bit one way or the other, but have never moved it that far.
How are the spark plugs? If it is backfiring and running rough it could be a fire problem as well as a fuel flow problem.
Hard to say with the info here.
Check those other 2 hoses.
