Anybody know where Jess might be? He was such a prolific poster but I haven't seen anything from him since we got the new board.

I'm still here but have been tied up with things like my 96yo mom dying, and travel back to MI to spread her ashes with my remaining family (a brother and a niece), and a lot of other fun stuff like tomorrows CT scan.

This getting old crap is not for the weak of heart.

Prayers up for MOM.  Gittin old aint fer wimps BUT it sure beats the alternative. And BTW Jess a CT scan by itself aint scary. What is scary is what the scan may find. PLEASE let us know how that goes. RIDE SAFE.

I thank everyone for the condolences and well wishes.

My mom lived so long it was like she would live forever.

She became like my best friend (with all her marbles and memory and sense of humor), and since I live so far away I wanted to call her every day, but she told me "I love you Jess, but I can't take an hour on the phone with you every day, let's make it a couple days a week." LOL

She outlived dad by 14 years (and was a year older than him).

Before all this upheaval, I was riding my bike 2-3 times a week for months, but not at all now for a few weeks, and with the rain and high heat, not this week either.  Bummer.

Jess - I share the feelings for condolences and well wishes for you. We've been busy here as well - waterproof / refinish part of the basement, paint the outside of the house and right now we're in the middle of getting the interior painted. After our biannual reunion, we're going to replace the floors in the 1st floor as well.

Jess, I'm so sorry to hear that you've been separated from your mom who was so precious and so close to you.  I hope you have (and I'm sure you do) many good memories of her and your relationship together.

Thank you Carl.

I already had a number of great pictures of my parents (which line my stairwells), like one of my mom at age 6 with her dog Boots guarding over her, and both of their HS graduation pictures, and a number of 'Olan Mills' family pictures of our young family over the years.  But I brought home 2 new ones from my trip;  My parents were HS sweethearts growing up 4 doors apart in small town WVa, and I have a shot of my dad and mom in HS with great big smiles that were mom's all time favorites, and now they're mine.

Sad to hear of your Mom's passing, but good to know y'all had such a good long time together. I am remindedof your posts often mentioning her. My condolences to you and your family.

Best wishes to you as you move forward after the loss of your Mom. I assume it was a surprise as you hadn't mentioned as serious health issues. A peaceful passing is what I'm hoping for my Mom when the time comes.

Jess, we are never really prepared for the loss and I know how close you were to your Mom.

My sincere condolences my friend.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your mom Jess.  I lost mine in 1957, I was 8 years old. Still think of her at times.  She will always be with you in your heart and memories.

Well John, she had been having problems with congestive heart failure with water retention and shortness of breath, and would go in to the hospital to get the water out and be released the same day or the next multiple times (and was still using her upright walker outdoors every day, not far, like 1/2-3/4 mile).

So you think they can just keep cleaning her up, but it took it's toll and wore her down at the end.  Her last day, she told my brother to take her back to the hospital again for a repeat, but when they got over there, she was dead in the back seat.... and that was that.  My poor brother and his wife were pretty devastated, and he called me later that day.  It was March 5 (his birthday), and I said that was a Hell of a birthday present.  And we both laughed, and cried.

This of course was some suffering, but not terrible.

Near the end she said she was getting tired of it all and wondered how long she would have to put up with it, and that scared me, but I understood completely.

Once again, I thank everyone for their condolences and well wishes.

Jess,

Sorry to hear of your Mom's passing.

I lost my Mom a few weeks ago.

She made it to 98 and was in good health until the last couple of months.

I've been telling people that it's a double edged sword, I would love to have kept her around but I didn't want her to be miserable and suffering.

Thanks Mark.

I'm sorry for your loss too.  These old gals just keep going... until they don't.
