Yes it should. There is also a 10A fuse under the right side cover.

There is a test procedure for that switch in the service manual, before you go spending money/

Do a search with the part number (google). Might find a better price.

I found prices from $14 to $75 for part number:  37760-MT2-003

Didn't check for gasket  price.

Thermo switch @ the radiator. Theres a many a years of shared models that uses it. Click on "diagrams":

My bike runs really cool thus I thought the thermo switch was a issue thus I ordered one aftermarket and devised a over ride switch setup. Come to find out that it worked while doing a carb synch but damn it took a long time get there but cycled properly thru process. I be concerned if the idiot light works if the thermo switch is working but...

Mine has to sit while running for some time before the fan comes on. I have a gauge, so know when it's getting hot enough; never seen the warning light come on. Did it come on, and the fan did not? Did you check for air in the radiator?

The fan on my Valkyrie came on just once, years ago at a hot Florida intersection.  The coolant gets changed every two years.  Daily riding indicates the cooling system works as it should.  Seems easy enough to test it if we choose to do so.
