Highway Dangers

My wife was on 495 N yesterday traveling to Littleton when a rock about the size of her fist (her words) hit the right side of the windshield. She was shook up but was able to complete the drive to her destination. The collision was strong enough to cause some glass shards to land in the passenger area.

She was visiting her nutritionist in Littleton. The nutritionist's husband taped up the inside of the windshield for her ride home. I taped it a little more when she got home. Picture at the link below. The windshield is scheduled to be replaced the morning of August 4th. Thanks to insurance, we don't have to pay for the replacement.

Can you imagine what something like this would do to a motorcycle.  Worst case, the rider and passenger could get killed. This is the reason why I try to avoid major highway riding as much as I can. Stay safe out their folks.

Dayum Tony...That could have been so much worse. A similar situation happened to us in the jeep a couple years ago..Glad all is well...

Glad she is OK!     You never know what's next, Road debris is out there, on the road or on the trucks hauling whatever.

Once upon a time, many many years ago, DeeWight and I were following Wally out of some damn tunnel in the Bahstahn area going like a bat out of hell, and there was a fully extended chaise lounger sprawled across the traffic lanes...Sure was a crap-load of fun avoiding that and the traffic on both sides of us...

Needless to say, that one did leave a mark in the Fruit of the Looms....

One of our members is in the ICU after flipping her trike.   My understanding is a truck (don't know if semi or pickup) lost part of is load,  and she hit it. 

I also don't know if they found the responsible truck or not, but it is scary out there.  Keep those heads on a swivel, and gear up.

You guys were probably in the I-93 tunnel, i.e., the Big Dig. It's not fun even in a car, never mind the motorcycle. I've never ridden into Boston and probably never will. Traffic is often bad and it's not fun. Not sure why Paul would take you through that tunnel, but I guess he had his reasons. Maybe just bragging rights?     

Most of my riding is in west central MA and southern NH and VT. These areas are not crowded and have great motorcycling roads.

We were on our way to Hooters (in Manchester) from visiting Holmie while he was in rehab from his accident..I think Wally just wanted to see the looks on our faces when we emerged from the tunnel...Lets just say that Valkyrie seat was deeply tucked between my butt cheeks..
