The day after we were in Monument Valley we went to Bryce Canyon and Zion Canyon. I'm thinkin they were less than 40 miles apart. Hard to believe as they were so very different. These were taken on the road to Bryce Canyon.

This ole boy stopped quick in front us. I was thinking some unkind thoughts about him 'til I realized he was waiting on an oncoming car to clear the arch 'cause he had to straddle the center line to keep from ripping the top off his RV

Bryce Canyon is a unique place. Technically not a canyon because it was not formed by flowing water. Naturally acidic rain water has done some of the sculpting but the freezing and thawing of water is responsible for  most of it. Pics are of Bryce Amphitheater taken from Bryce Point. The tall rock formations that stand like an army are called HooDoos.

We have a vacation planned starting around the 10th of May and lasting around 3 weeks and was considering going to that area.  Just wondering what the weather will be like.

We stayed at a nice B&B (Whispering Pines) in Glendale, Utah.  It was centrally located between Zion and Bryce.  the folks that ran the place were very nice and made you feel comfortable.  There's also a huge hotel, restaurant, truck stop, right outside of Bryce.  Zion also a lodge within the park.

I've been planning my trip west for sometime this summer, have not picked the dates yet, depends on the other riders.

The plan for the moment is a 2 week run, head up and around Lake Michigan, to Duluth, Minn, then head down towards the Black Hills, Devils Tower, Montana, then on down to Colorodo and spend a couple days wondering around.

The west is so big, don't think I will be able to squeeze in the canyons - looks impresive  8)

We will be doing this with the 5th wheel bike in the back, so will be looking for campgrounds and strike out each day from the campground in a different direction hopefully.  What will the weather be like middle May to middle June?
Not trying to steal your thread Ronnie, great pics.

Glad to hear it Rowdy. I hope you have a great trip. You are past due.  :cooldude: I understand what you mean about not making the canyons. I planned our route for weeks and kept trying to work in the Badlands, Rushmore etc. plus all the other places we went. It wasn't doable (word???) and be able to enjoy any of it. We opted for the canyons and still had some long days to do what we did. I'm sure we would have enjoyed the trip just as much if we had opted for S. Dakota and Wyoming. I look forward to pics of your trip.

No problem Terry. Jacob Lake was at the intersection of 89A and 67 in Arizona. They have a lodge, campground, store and an outstanding restraunt in case Lightfoot gets tired of cooking  :) . From there it's a short ride to Bryce, Zion and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. (I'm thinking 40 miles or less to any of them. Plus there are some other national parks very close by.(day trip) Grand Escalante and Glen Canyon are two I remember. That's the only campground that stuck in my memory. Wish I could help you more. If I remember anything else I'll post you on here.  :cooldude: Are y'all going into Colorado ?

sounds like a good place to stay a few days.  Honestly, we have got to get busy with some planning, but at this point don't know exactly where we will be.  We liked Colorado when we went in 06.  We stayed  in Buena Vista, Kremmling, and Breckenridge for four of five days each when we were there.  Loved those 12 and 14 thousand foot mountain roads.  Did Rocky Mountains Nat. Park one day, just awesome and I know that word gets used a lot and I don't like it, but can't think of another one that fits better.

Truly an extraordinary place!  Thanks for sharing.

That's cool Mark. Ya can't beat having someone like that to show ya around an area you've never visited before. You get to see so much more. I like rocks too man and prolly would have filled my saddlebags too.  :cooldude:
We took 89 to 12 and was only on 12 for a short ride. I'm wondering if you took 12 in from the east. It looked like a good road on the map.  :cooldude:
