I have a set of chromed clutch & brake m/c that had the site glass removed for the process and it was replaced with what appears to be a threaded plug. Having no experience with that I decided to test for leaks before putting into use, so I set them in an old frying pan we're throwing away, filled with brake fluid and let set for 3 days. Pleased to find no leaks. Had more trouble finding a couple bolts to plug the output. Today I dumped the fluid out and cleaned them up in preparation to removing the guts, that's when the fun started. Removing the snap ring on each unit was a PITA, access space is limited due to the construction of the housing surrounding the hole for the plunger but I finally got them out. The insides were crusty but in pretty good shape so cleaned and sprayed enough to allow the old plungers to move freely but not loosely in the channels.

So, my question now is...where's the best place to order rebuild kits for the clutch and brake m/c? I can't remember the last time I did a rebuild on such an item, 15 yrs. at least & not my bike. I do see a number of kits under the K&L label so wondering if the kits are worth the money...they're a bit more pricey than most. TIA...

John, the only one I have used is Brakecrafters. The kits worked fine for me.

Thanks Dave, I've been looking at that brand...wondering about the quality. Seems to be good, think I'll give them a shot. I think it was on Amazon where I first saw them, I can use my daughter's Prime acct. for free shipping. ;)
